RSC Bio Solutions & AEGIR-Marine announce their strategic partnership in the field of stern tubes seals working for EALs under VGP

AEGIR-Marine and RSC Bio Solutions recently signed a partnership confirming their collaboration concerning stern tube seals running on readily biodegradable lubricants under U.S. EPA Vessel General Permit (VGP) restrictions. AEGIR and RSC Bio Solutions will adopt joint responsibility for the combined performance of the AEGIR-Marine PRIME Seals with the readily biodegradable EnviroLogic lubricants made by RSC Bio Solutions.

Ruud Muis, CEO AEGIR-Marine, said, “As AEGIR-Marine is a service organization, we aim to offer total solutions to our customers. By offering a joint, proven VGP-compliant system, we ensure ship owners worldwide that they will not be left in the middle.”

RSC Bio Solutions specifically formulates readily biodegradable products for demanding marine transportation applications. AEGIR-Marine chose RSC’s EnviroLogic lubricants because of their proven superior lubricity and anti-wear characteristics, which ship owners will benefit from through longer changeover intervals and extended equipment life.

From the start, AEGIR-Marine PRIME Seals were designed to work equally well with traditional and readily biodegradable fluids. The proven quality of PRIME seals that have a high resistance against the chemicals in readily biodegradable fluids, as well as AEGIR-Marine’s global footprint, convinced RSC Bio Solutions to join in.

Mike Guggenheimer, CEO for RSC Bio Solutions, said, “We’re always looking for strong partners, like AEGIR-Marine, to meet the needs of mutual customers for EALs with proven performance. Both companies are committed to delivering improved sustainability to our customers, so it was an easy decision to formally supply our EnviroLogic fluids in conjunction with AEGIR-Marine’s quality seal products and service.”

Equally important however is, that by joining forces AEGIR and RSC Bio Solutions want to obviate any fears that lubricant suppliers and seal manufacturers might accuse one another in the unlikely event that the EAL/stern seal combination faces failures. Both parties have agreed on taking joint responsibility for the combined performance of their products.

Both parties intend to have sufficient stock to ensure timely delivery to all major marine hubs in the U.S.A., Europe and Asia. Of course this partnership doesn’t mean that AEGIR will only accept RSC products or vice versa. AEGIR will still accept any of the EALs in their approved oil list and RSC Bio Solutions remains free to offer its lubricants to customers using seals from other manufacturers.
