March 18, 2009

MTU has recently appointed Richard Reisig as its head of governmental affairs in Washington D.C.  In this role, Reisig will oversee the activities of MTU’s Washington D.C. office and assist with the sale of MTU engines to both the foreign and domestic defence base.

Before joining MTU, Reisig worked for GE Transportation Systems in Washington, D.C. as a Director of Business Development for Government Accounts. He brings to this position several years of management, sales, project management and legislative experience gained during his previous employment with GE Energy, the Office of Senator John Warner, Allscripts Healthcare and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Reisig has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Business Management from the George Washington University.

MTU has a strong presence in the defence market with recent high profile engine and complete propulsion systems contracts including the National Security Cutters (U.S. Coast Guard), Joint High Speed Vessels (U.S. Department of Defence) and Future Combat Systems (U.S. Army).  MTU also has a long-standing history with the U.S. Army through its parts and service support for the Army’s legions of Detroit Diesel 2-Cycles engines.

Located in Arlington, Virginia, MTU’s Washington D.C. office has been serving the needs of the company’s defence customers since September 2007.  The Washington office is instrumental in coordinating MTU’s domestic and foreign military sales (FMS) and staying abreast of new regulations and legislation affecting the industry.
