Senior L-3 European Appointments

L-3 Marine & Power Systems Group, whose members include SAM Electronics, has appointed Klaus Lorenz as Vice-President of its European Operations. Reporting to Steve Kantor, President of the $1.3b Group, he will be responsible for all its activities throughout Europe, including business development as well as customer and inter-divisional relationships.

Formerly President of SAM Electronics, which was acquired by L-3 in 2006, Mr Lorenz has been associated with the marine industry for over 35 years, having also held senior management posts with ABB.  He holds a diploma in Electrical Engineering-Power Systems from the University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg.

Klaus Lorenz’s successor as President of SAM is Ulrich Weinreuter, the company’s former director of finance, while Carsten Sippel, previously Managing Director of Lyngsø Marine in Denmark, has been appointed the company’s Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer.

Headquartered in Hamburg, SAM Electronics employs over 1,300 personnel globally and is one of the world’s leading turnkey suppliers of complete electrical assemblies for marine applications.  It is also a major producer of high technology navigation, automation, communication, energy distribution and propulsion systems for all types of ship.
