V.Ships announced the appointment of Douglas Robinson as V.Ships Ship Management Divisions' Managing Director for Asia, based in Singapore.

He brings to the V.Ships Group a wealth of experience gained from more than 30 years in shipping, marine services, engineering and mining.

Having spent 16 years at sea with BP Shipping as a marine engineer, his last three years as Chief Engineer, Douglas Robinson went on to obtain both a Bachelors degree and his MBA, while working for BP's shore organisation in a number of exacting positions in chartering, project and technical management.

From 1992-2000, he worked in the Indonesian coal industry for a Rio Tinto/ BP joint venture, where his role as General Manager and Director was to improve performance and efficiencies within the business.

In 2000 he established his own consulting company handling a wide variety of projects across Asia, latterly being employed as an internal consultant to IMC Pan Asia Alliance Group, developing and implementing strategic management processes.

Chief Executive of V.Ships Ship Management, Roberto Giorgi, comments, " We are absolutely delighted that someone of Doug Robinson's huge experience, all so relevant to our business, has joined V.Ships. We were sorry when our previous MD in Asia, Alastair Evitt, decided to return to the UK and we want to thank him for all his efforts in moving our business forward in Asia. We look upon Asia as a huge potential for the broad base of quality services that we offer to ship owners and operators and believe that in Doug Robinson we have someone who can make an outstanding contribution in developing and delivering the V.Ships brand to these vibrant markets".
