New York Atlantic Rower Reaches Mid Point

Victor Mooney, 48, of Queens, in  a 24ft Brazilian custom made ocean rowboat, 'Spirit of Malabo',  reports that in his fourth bid for a transatlantic crossing and furthest so far, he is now halfway across.

Mooney departed Maspolamas, Gran Canaria, off the coast of Africa on February 19, 2014 bound for the British Virgin Islands (BVI) – a 3,000 mile row.

He adds that after a resupply in the BVI, he will row another 1,800 miles to New York.

Mooney explains that his journey is designed to encourage voluntary HIV Testing and raise funds for AIDS.
