Western Australia’s Department of Transport turns to BMT for project management support.

BMT JFA Consultants, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has announced that it has secured a three year contract with Western Australia’s Department of Transport (DoT).  Providing a range of project management services, the contract will see BMT work closely with the Department to help deliver its dredging programme for facilities which extend from Wyndham in the north to Esperance in the south, covering over 12,000km of coastline.

The Department of Transport’s key focus is on operational transport functions and strategic transport planning and policy across the range of public and commercial transport systems that service Western Australia.  Charlie Bicknell, Acting Manager New Coastal Assets, Department of Transport comments: “We look forward to working closely with BMT and their sub consultants Oceanica as they provide the essential expertise required to support our dredging programme.”

The scope of work managed by BMT at over twenty different facilities ranges from the early stage review of hydrographic survey data to assess the requirement for maintenance dredging, through to the project planning process leading to the management of the project execution and site supervision.

BMT JFA Consultant’s experience in maintenance dredging operations covers the use of the full range of dredging plant, including land based excavation plant (with associated trucking) and small scale floating dredges, through to the use of some of the world’s largest dredgers.
