Classification society ClassNK has earned authorization from the Finnish Transport Safety Agency to carry out surveys for Finnish flagged vessels. The agreement allows ClassNK to perform surveys for SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line and other international conventions, as well as perform audits and issue certificates on behalf of the Finnish Government.

Speaking on the occasion, ClassNK Chairman and President Noboru Ueda said, “With the opening of our newest office in Helsinki on December 1, 2013 and the signing of this new authorization agreement, ClassNK is now able toprovide a full classification service to all owners operating vessels in Finland, including those with domestically flagged vessels.”

“Over the past several years we have made a tremendous commitment to improving our operations in Northern Europe and the Baltic region especially. In addition to new and expanded offices in St. Petersburg, Klaipeda, Hamburg and now Helsinki, our ability to work on behalf of an expanded range of regional governments mean that we can provide an even better service to our clients throughout the region.”

With the authorization from Finland, ClassNK is now authorized to perform surveys and audits on behalf of 16 Flag Administrations in the EU, and a total of 110 Flag Administrations throughout the world.
