BlueTide Releases app to Manage Wireless Networks

Access Management Portal (AMP) is now available in the Apple app store.

BlueTide Communications (BlueTide) has released Access Management Portal (AMP), BlueTide’s second proprietary iOS app, on the Apple app store. AMP allows for control of wireless networks directly from an iPad device. Designed for Ubiquiti WAP management, AMP is like a fuel gauge for bandwidth. With the ability to monitor usage by network, devices in use by WAP or data use by WAP, AMP delivers a real-time snapshot of how bandwidth is used and by whom.

To ensure business-critical applications have sufficient bandwidth to perform, AMP enables customers to block and reauthorize devices instantly. This feature disables wireless access to non-critical devices until business operations are completed. Once business needs are met, the customer can unblock devices to permit those back on the wireless network.

“We created this application based on the needs of remote sites where bandwidth is limited, such as satellite connected sites in the oil and gas and maritime industries as well as other remote areas where bandwidth is at a premium,” explains BlueTide Managing Director Emil Regard. “Our customers are able to offer crew wireless access but AMP gives them the control to prioritize bandwidth for business operations when needed. The control and management features AMP delivers, all from an easy-to-use interface, make this application very exciting for our customers.”

BlueTide has also seen use for AMP in other applications including schools and universities, healthcare facilities, remote land networks and corporate applications. Any network structure utilizing the UbiquitiWAP products are able to take advantage of this application to maximize network performance.
