Broadwater LNG Project

The U.S. Coast Guard is in the process of preparing a Letter of Recommendation as to the suitability of Long Island Sound for liquefied natural gas (LNG) traffic. The Coast Guard has received a letter of intent from Broadwater Energy to construct and operate an offshore floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for LNG in New York State waters of Long Island Sound. The Coast Guard will be working with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on this project. Public meetings will be held in Stony Brook, NY (September 13); Shoreham, NY (September 14); East Lyme, CT (September 20); and Branford, CT (September 21).
