Dry Bulkers - Spot Market

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

September 8, 2015

Capesize - With the Chinese away from there desks during the final part of the week, conditions slowed down considerably with rumors of fixing out of West Australia already showing softer numbers.

Nevertheless, the Pacific basin was still closing on a week-on-week rise thanks to some notable fixing early on in the week, while position lists were also holding well for the time being.

The Atlantic on the other hand was unable to provide any support closing off in the red as fresh inquiries were limited and far between.

Panamax - Things did not hold as positive in the panamax sector, with almost all areas slipping on previous week’s close, while the Holidays in the east took a big bite out of the inflow of fresh inquiries.

It looks as though the next couple of days will be equally difficult, though as we move further into September dates there is a sense of an upcoming increase in demand. However, as things stand now it seems to early to tell if this will materialize in practice.

Supramax - Supramaxes saw an almost equal chunck of their activity vanish during the week, as Holidays both in the East as well as the upcoming Labour Holidays in the U.S. left little interest circulating around.

Despite this, it seemed that the largest drop was to be noted in the Black Sea/Med region were a plethora of tonnage coupled by a lack of interest put considerable downward pressure.

Handysize - Handies were holding overall better then some of the larger size segments, assisted by improvement in conditions in the Continent region and assisted by a slight increase in the Far East.
