Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

Netherlands-based cargo handling innovator CargoFlexX BV has secured a contract to deliver six dry bulk handling systems to the Gulf of Mexico.

The dry bulk handling systems will be installed on-board the new SOLAS OSVs under construction for SEACOR Marine LLC’s new building program.

The FlexXVac system is an alternative for the up to now often used conventional P-tank dry bulk handling systems, CargoFlexX xplains. As a result of the implementation of the FlexXVac system SEACOR Marine LLC will be able to carry 33% more of dry bulk on-board of the newbuildings, compared to the conventional setup, the manufacturer said.

SEACOR Marine LLC will be the first U.S. Offshore Support Vessel operator with the FlexXVac system sailing in the Gulf of Mexico. Expected is that SEACOR Marine will set a new standard with this system which is not only creating more capacity but also more freedom in the design of the vessels.

CargoFlexX BV commercial director Sander Castel said, “With the FlexXVac system we expect to set a new standard for vessel operators in the Gulf of Mexico. We are known for our innovative systems. With this particular system we dare to say we are able to offer a more user as well as design friendly bulk mud system. This system will be the new alternative on the outdated conventional P-tank systems. Besides the already mentioned benefits the system is also very environmental friendly with zero dust emission during operation, a subject which is getting more and more important these days.”

The new generation SOLAS OSVs will be built by Master Boat Builders LLC located in Coden Alabama. Master Boat Builders will be the first U.S. shipyard building vessels with the FlexXVac system. CargoFlexX BV and Master Boat Builders are working close together to set the standard high.
