Safety Zone for L'Auberge 4th of July Celebration

The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans, under the authority of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, will establish a safety zone on the Lower Mississippi River, Above Head of Passes, from MM 215.0 to MM 217.0, in the vicinity of the L'Auberge Casino, Baton Rouge, LA. This safety zone is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with a fireworks display for the L'Auberge 4th of July Celebration. This safety zone is effective from 8:45 p.m. July 4, 2014 until 09:45 p.m. on July 4, 2014.

All vessels are prohibited from entering this safety zone unless they have been granted permission by the Captain of the Port New Orleans or designated representative. Only vessels participating in the fireworks display and pre-designated vessels are permitted within the safety zone after 8.45p.m. local. All vessels requesting permission to enter or transit through this safety zone are requested to contact the Coast Guard.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff Department Small Boat EVRSO-32 will be on the scene for the duration of the event and can be contacted on VHF-FM Channel 16 and 67 or via the Officer of the Day.
 
Failure to comply with the requirements of the safety zone will subject persons to a civil penalty of up to forty thousand dollars. Willful
violation of this order may be punishable by the fine of not more than fifty thousand dollars or imprisonment for not more than five years, or both.
