Ever mindful of the importance of the correct, efficient and safe use of its bolt tensioning and tightening tools, Tentec announced the availability of Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) certified bolt training courses and qualifications for the oil and gas industry.

With the acquisition of the well-respected Aberdeen-based training company Peak Performance, Tentec now offers established training units related to the use of bolt tightening tooling, assembly of components, joint verification and quality paperwork. Tentec’s facility in Birmingham, the UK, is now an approved ECITB training center, and courses have been extended to include all aspects of bolting operations, including risk assessment, method statements, isolations, interpretation of drawings and flange management. Not only does the training cover hand torque, hydraulic torque and hydraulic tensioning, but also Tentec’s own derived modules, covering the correct use of hydraulic nuts and Tentec’s popular BTS - Bolt Tightening Software.

Tentec’s trainers can offer the courses either at the Tentec training facility or onsite – anywhere in the world.  Already, their busy schedule this year has seen training sessions in the UK, Aberdeen, Vietnam, Ireland, Croatia and Greece.

In addition to training, Tentec also offer a follow-up service, which can lead to a series of technical tests. Success in these tests results in the award of certification which is valid for three years. The certification is an official ECITB qualification and is recognized throughout the world as the benchmark for bolting training. Assuming that the operator maintains records of continuing bolting work, there is no requirement for further training, only re-testing.
