Ship service company, GAC, inform that 5 boys and girls from Oman Childcare Centre joined the GAC Pindar crew on board their 40ft racing catamaran on Day 2 of the Extreme Sailing Series.

The children's visit to the boat was part of GAC’s continuing support for the local communities that host it around the world and its commitment to nurturing a love of healthy outdoor activities for young people. The gesture was not lost on the youngsters: after the experience, one of them now hopes to make a career at sea as a sailor.

Another child drew inspiration from quadriplegic sailor Hilary Lister and her yachting partner Nashwa Al Kindi who recently concluded their epic sailing expedition from Mumbai to Muscat, saying: “Their feat motivates each one of us to achieve the seemingly impossible. We certainly enjoyed our day out at sea and the chance to hoist the sails, fly the hulls and steer the rib was truly exciting!”

Oman Childcare Centre representative, Magda Shalaby, adds: “This kind of experience immensely brightens the lives of our kids. GAC also gave us the opportunity to do this in 2013, and again the smiles on the children’s faces spoke volumes about the joy they got from this experience.”

GAC Oman’s General Manager, Daniel Nordberg says: “Though demanding, sailing is a fun sport. To have young souls draw inspiration from the experience we were able to give them is something we value immensely. It was a real pleasure hosting the children of Oman Childcare Centre and we look forward to welcoming them back again next year.”
