FURUNO Collects Three NMEA Awards

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 10, 2013

Furuno, a  manufacturer of marine electronics, won three more National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) awards at the prestigious 2013 NMEA Convention in San Diego, Calif. These three awards had Furuno once again leading the total number of awards captured by any one manufacturer this year, as well as bringing Furuno’s NMEA Award all-time total to an incredible 208, since NMEA started presenting awards in 1971.

Furuno once again received the Manufacturer of the Year - Support award, making this the eighth year in a row. Furuno remains the sole recipient of this award, since its introduction on the ballot in 2005. “With 2013 marking Furuno USA’s 35th year in business, receiving the Manufacturer of the Year award just makes this anniversary a greater tribute,” stated Jim Atteridge, President of Furuno USA. “A company is only as good as its people, and we have the best crew in the industry. Match that with our outstanding dealer network and an amazing product line, and you have a winning formula for success.”

Furuno’s winning streak remains unbroken in the Radar category. The NavNet TZT14 with DRS4D Radar received the Best Radar award. Furuno’s Radar technology has been the industry benchmark for years, and that shows with their 38th year in a row winning Best Radar. The TZT14 is a 14” Multi Touch MFD coupled with a 4 kW, 24-inch Radar Dome, which incorporates Furuno’s UHD Digital Radar processing for ultimate target detection and performance.

Accolades for NavNet TZtouch continue with the TZTBB winning the Best Navigation Category. This unit features Furuno’s Black Box Multi Touch MFD. It comes standard with NOAA Raster and Vector charts, or a selection of optional C-MAP Vector or Navionics Vector Charts. Every one of these chart formats can be displayed in eye-popping 3D or traditional 2D, while further enhancing the charts with high-resolution satellite photos that can be downloaded at no charge from Furuno’s web site. The NavNet TZTBB can be connected to virtually any size multi touch monitor and it can also be operated with Furuno’s free Tablet and SmartPhone Apps.

Furuno has a long and distinguished tradition of producing award-winning products.  With 208 NMEA awards, Furuno is the most-recognized company for outstanding products in the marine electronics industry.
