Long considered a polluted ditch through the city, Manila’s Pasig River is being rehabilitated. Central to this endeavor is a ferry service that will include 15 terminals along a 10.5 mile route stretching from Intramuros near Manila Bay to Pasig City. The bid to operate the system was awarded in 2005 to a joint venture of Filipino groups led by Penta Captial Investment and the Australian Robert Cole of Sydneyside Cruises Ltd.
The first of four vessels are now in operation with several more under construction.
