According to Business News, nine companies have submitted pre-qualification documents to state-run Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) to provide a floating LNG terminal, a PCJ project official told BNamericas. The reception, storage and regasification terminal is planned for the Port Esquivel area on Jamaica's southern coast. PCJ was due to open documents on Monday (May 28) afternoon, with a list of pre-qualifiers expected in coming weeks, the official said. Names of the companies were not immediately available. The terminal is part of the government's energy diversification strategy that aims to introduce natural gas as an alternative to oil. The aim is to receive first gas in 2009. Source: Business News
