Norway's Kleven says it has signed a contract with Rem Offshore for the building of a Wärtsila Ship Design PSV specially designed to operate in challenging arctic conditions.

They explain that the type VS 485 MK III ARCTIC design includes a number of features for ice prevention and de-icing, and hull and propulsion systems will have ICE-1B class.

'We highly appreciate the close cooperation we have with Rem Offshore, and the fact that they again have chosen to order a new vessel from Kleven,' says Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven. 'When this vessel gets delivered Q2 2015, it will be vessel number 18 from Kleven to Rem since 2006. It is a unique story,' Rasmussen said. 'Our two organisations know each other very well, ensuring a smooth building process.'

'It is a pleasure for us to be able to use a local ship yard and local suppliers, and our experience with this design is solid,' said ship owner Åge Remøy.
