CCG Among Winners at the JEC Asia Conference
CCG with partners UES Malaysia and Vee-Tek Australia Epoxy will be given an award in the sector of Raw Materials at the JEC Asia Composites Show & Conferences in Singapore, June 2013.
Composite solutions are successfully used in the auto, aircraft and marine industry, as well as in the fields of mass transportation, construction and wind energy. The development is ongoing and new solutions are continuously announced. One of them will be presented at the JEC conference in June.
The task was to develop an infusible epoxy resin of high strength properties and with excellent FST capability. CCG teamed up with UES Malaysia, excelling in the construction of composite military vessels, and the Australia-based epoxy manufacturing company Vee-Tek. The new resin was applied using the 3D infusion system, developed by CCG. The system allows for the integration of stiffeners in one step, making it unnecessary to glue them on after the process. Not only does it save time and material – the structural integration benefits greatly from this procedure.
Four 49-foot Fast Interceptor Crafts (FIC) with a speed of up to 60 knots have been built using the new resin system. Working together to test, evaluate and develop the FST properties and the infusion process throughout the project, the three companies have shared knowledge from their respective field of expertise. The project will be presented at the conference on June 25, when Todd Henry from CCG and his colleagues from Vee-tek and UES collect their well-deserved trophy.
Giving composite solutions yet another advantage to vessels made of aluminum and steel, the new resin system is an answer to the objection that composite vessels would pose a larger risk to fire hazards. The solution also meets certain regulations related to building codes, allowing for façade cladding projects to be made highly cost effective and suitable for DIAB cores and advanced processing such as RTM. Currently tested by an independent lab for FST testing in Germany, the latest test results and data sheets of the epoxy resin and surface coating (Gelocat/topcoat) will be available within short. CCG is also currently organizing a tailor-made on-site epoxy training course for the employees of a Middle East company making civil façade structures. Composite projects of all kinds will soon be able to benefit from the development work of CCG and its partners.
