Consilium Wins S-VDR Contract

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

February 2, 2006

The A.P. Moller - Maersk Group has awarded Consilium Navigation AB, in partnership with Hans Buch A/S, a contract to supply its fleet with Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR) over a four-year period, 2006-2010. The contract is the largest known fleet order for S-VDR in the world so far, comprising a minimum of 175 units. “The focus was not only commercial – but also covered project management, service and technical management support. Consilium is both competitive and professional – and a good match with A.P. Moller-Maersk”. Consilium will coordinate project management and installation with its partner in Denmark, Hans Buch A/S. “A.P. Moller - Maersk put great emphasis not only on receiving a great product, but also on an organization with high support and service capacity. Consilium is a prominent player on the VDR market, and this new contract has definitely strengthened their position”, says Kristian Kristensen, Division Manager Marine Electronics at Hans Buch A/S.
Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
