MOL has updated On Time Arrival Performance quarterly results for April - June 2013 for the major trade lanes as part of its effort to upgrade and improve the quality of services offered. Some delays arose that were beyond the control of the operators, but otherwise performance was good.

East-West Trades
In Q2 2013, the weather in the Pacific Ocean was stable, allowing the on time performance of Asia-USWC services to resume to over 90%. An even higher level of performance was expected, but was not achieved due to the impact on vessels by a labor strike in Hong Kong.

Asia-USEC services’ performance maintained a similar level as was achieved in Q1 2013, while the major factor attributing to the low on time performance was terminal congestion in Algeciras.

Due to adverse weather conditions at Rotterdam, the Transatlantic on time performance for all vessels improved only slightly. MOL’s vessels were less affected and reached 89% punctuality.

Asia-EUR/MED services were significantly affected by the strike in Hong Kong while MED services also suffered from congestion in Ashdod, which further delayed their East Bound schedule.

North-South Trades

Adverse weather condition in South Africa affected the CSW vessel punctuality and its performance in Q2 2013. The CSW’s on time performance was also worse than last quarter due to a labor strike at Hong Kong.

The overall situation of the CWL held steady at 96%. One MOL operated vessel was affected by dense fog in Central China which had a significant impact on the punctuality of CWL West Bound leg in Q2 2013, while MOL maintained an on time performance of 100% on the East Bound leg.

Intra-Asia Trades

CHS and HS3 suffered delays due to serious port congestion and low terminal productivity due to a labor strike at Hong Kong. In the meanwhile, CBE and CBW maintained 100% punctuality in Q2 2013.
