Vinashin Wins Contracts

Reports indicate that the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) inked 18 contracts with both domestic and foreign partners in Ha Noi on Feb. 22. The contracts, signed within the framework of the 3rd International Exhibition on Shipbuilding, Marine Technology and Transportation, include deals to supply three 8,700-ton ships to Japan and ten 4,600-tonne ships to Denmark, together worth nearly 300 million USD. A $200 million project to build a shipbuilding yard in southern Binh Dinh province was signed between the Vinashin and its Chinese partner, the CAMCO company. Vinashin also entered contracts with two local companies for rice shipments to the Philippines, Cuba and Scandinavian countries.
