ABB Wins Contracts Worth $110M

ABB has been awarded contracts worth $110 million to supply electrical power systems for twelve vessels and five offshore drilling rigs. The ABB orders, all booked during January-March 2006, include the following:

• Total electrical power system packages for two semi-submersible drilling rigs for subsidiaries of Jon Fredriksen controlled SeaDrill Ltd (Subsea Drilling (III) Ltd and Subsea Drilling (IV) Ltd). The rigs will be built at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, based on a GVA 7500 design with the first rig delivery in early 2008.

• Total electrical power system package for one semi-submersible drilling rig for PetroRig I Pte Ltd/PetroMena ASA under management by Larsen Oil & Gas. The rig, which is the third in a series, will be built at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore, based on a Friede & Goldman design, with rig delivery in spring 2009.

• Total electrical power system package for the second drilling vessel (the first option) for Norway’s Mosvold Drilling Ltd under management of Jon Fredriksen controlled SeaDrill Ltd, to be built at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, with vessel delivery in December 2008.

• Total electrical power system package for the second drilling vessel (the first option) for Stena Drilling Ltd a subsidiary of Stena AB in Sweden, to be built at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, with vessel delivery Q1- 2009.

• Diesel electric propulsion systems for two 157.000 m3 Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers being built for MISC at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd, shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan. with first vessel delivery in December 2008. These will be the first LNG carriers in Japan to be equipped with a state-of-the-art diesel electric propulsion system.

• Electrical propulsion systems for two vessels of design ST216 to be built at Aker Yards, Brattvåg. The two vessels will be owned by Voldstad shipping and will be delivered late 2006 and early 2007.

• Electrical propulsion system for one vessel of design Aker PSV 06 to be built at Aker Yards, Aukra. The vessel will be owned by DOF and will be delivered late 2006.

• Electrical propulsion system for one vessel of design Aker ROV 06 to be built at Aker Yards, Søviknes. The vessel will be owned by GEO and is scheduled for delivery late 2006.

• Electrical propulsion systems for one vessel of design Ulstein P101 to be built at Ulstein Werft. The vessel will be owned by Olympic Shipping and will be delivered late 2007.

• Electrical propulsion systems to Rolls Royce for one vessel of design UT 766 E to be built at Aker Yards, Brevik. The vessel will be owned by Farstad Shipping and will be delivered in 2007.

• Electrical propulsion system for four offshore vessels of design ULSTEIN P105 to Ulstein design AS to be built at Zhejiang Shipbuilding in China. The vessels will be owned by Bourbon and are scheduled for delivery in 2007 and 2008.
