Eufala Police Launch Rescue Boat

The Eufala Police Department, in Alabama, recently unveiled a well-equipped boat for the purpose of search and rescue. The boat was presented to the department by the Alabama Marine Police. After some restoration and a new coat of marine paint, the boat only lacked a few essential items - primarily electronic equipment. Police Lieutenant Todd Register then contacted Techsonic Industries, and asked for a donation of a depth finder for the new rig. The company not only considered the request, but took it a step further. According to Techsonic President Charlie Stott, the company saw an opportunity to create perhaps the finest equipped search and rescue boat in the country. Techsonic first installed an NS-25, a sonar/GPS combination unit, which employs state-of-the-art C-Map cartography. From C-Map, a detailed map card of Lake Eufala was obtained, giving the police department pinpoint accuracy where satellite navigation was concerned. Next, a completely waterproof Humminbird DC-25 VHF radio was installed, to provide capability of on-the-water communication with the USCG, Marine Police or Conservation Department. From the company's Zercom line, the search and rescue boat was equipped with the new LPG 2000. The newly developed fish finder will provide the finest bottom resolution, structure identification, themocline and surface temperature of any unit developed in the company's history. Finally, Techsonic installed its most sophisticated piece of equipment - a FishEye underwater color video camera, complete with a five in. color monitor. The unit is equipped with 100 ft. of cable, giving it the capability of exploring the maximum depths of Lake Eufala and all surrounding waterways.
