AAL, one of the world’s leading breakbulk, project cargo and heavy lift shipping operators, has been awarded the prize for ‘Excellence in Project Cargo, Breakbulk / Heavy Lift’ at the 21st Annual Australian Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards.

Only two weeks earlier the specialist multipurpose heavy-lift operator was voted ‘Breakbulk Operator of the Year’ at the Global Freight Awards 2016 in London – the first time the breakbulk sector had been recognised at these awards.

Frank Mueller, General Manager of AAL Australia commented, “These two major honours are very significant, not just for AAL, but for the whole global breakbulk sector that we represent. The multipurpose heavy-lift sector is one of the most demanding in the entire shipping community and has perhaps been overlooked in the past at the bigger shipping awards.”

“Things are now changing and the industry is waking up to the fact that the engineering, service and operational demands and capabilities within the breakbulk heavy-lift sector are second to none and we are very proud to be able to promote these unique qualities to a wider global audience.”

2016 has been significant for AAL. Over the past 12 months, the global carrier has expanded its operations into the US and the Middle East and established multiple new services that provide its customers in a wide variety of industry sectors with highly flexible and competitive solutions across all key global trades. Major projects around the world have capitalised on the carrier’s unique capability to combine its fixed-route liner services and tailor-made tramp sailings, to deliver value-added global transport solutions for even the most complex cargoes and demanding delivery schedules.
