Fairweather Recognized for Safety & Health

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

April 7, 2015

Fairweather, LLC was a presenter at the recent 2015 Alaska Governor's Safety & Health Conference, addressing relevant health, safety and environment (HSE) topics and earning two significant HSE achievement awards.

The conference, hosted by the Alaska Safety Advisory Council, was held at the Dena'ina Convention Center in Anchorage, March 24-26. The goal of the event was to encourage the coordination and sponsorship of policies, activities and actions designed to reduce the loss of human and material resources in the state of Alaska.

Fairweather was recognized with the 2015 Governor's Award for Safety Excellence at the conference.  This award is presented to Alaskan companies that demonstrate exemplary safety and health procedures and good corporate citizenship.

In addition, Fairweather Safety Manager Gordon Randall was the recipient of the 2015 Everett Award. This award was established in 2012 in honor of Denali Safety Council Director “Safety Herb” Everett. The Everett Award recognizes individuals, still active in the profession, that have dedicated their lives to the advancement of safety inside and outside the workplace.

Along with his duties as a safety manager for Fairweather, Gordon serves with AK DMAT 1, an Anchorage-based volunteer disaster management preparedness group that stages large disaster drills for the municipality.  Gordon also sits as a facilitator on the North Slope Road Safety Coalition, tasked with identifying and mitigating driving hazards encountered on the North Slope.

Fairweather has set the standard for safety and health performance in the Arctic since 1976, serving a diverse client base and establishing an impressive safety record in each of its divisions. Fairweather Tool Services’ contract with BP has celebrated over 20 years without a lost time incident, and Fairweather Science has recorded over eight years without an injury.

“These awards are shared by all our employees,” said Fairweather Director of QHSE Brian McKay. “This a company-wide acknowledgement of our efforts regarding workplace safety and health. Congratulations to Gordon and all Fairweather employees for bettering the lives of our fellow Alaskans.”
