Electronic Weather Forecasting Offered

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

January 31, 2002

C-Map announces C-Forecast, a new system that gives boaters accurate, up-to-date weather information on their chart plotters. This system recently debuted at the 2001 METS show in Amsterdam, where it received an honorable mention in the DAME competition. C-Forecast provides forecasts of wind speed, direction and wave height for any give time within a 24-hour period. This gives navigators the weather information , relative to where they are and where they are going. C-Forecast uses state-of-the-art communication technologies. All that’s required is a C-MAPNT-based charting system and the C-COM GSM cellular connection box, along with a subscription to C-Forecast services. C-forecast uses high-resolution weather data that is gathered from Nowcasting International Ltd., and entered into a powerful weather model that predicts wind direction, wind strength and wave height.
Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
