New generation Transas simulator for Broome Maritime Simulation Centre

Kimberley TAFE Broome Maritime Simulation Centre has extended its range of services by selecting a Transas Full Mission Transas Simulator. The Transas Marine will upgrade the existing simulation centre to provide one of the most advanced marine trainings and R&D tools in the Australia.

The simulation suite includes a main bridge and a tug station for a new port development, training of pilots and tug masters.

Kimberley TAFE has a significant list of clients who already use the facility for a new port development environmental research; wharfs, channel and turning basic design; squat and under keel clearance study; marine pilot training; emergency procedure training and many other applications. 

New developments will contribute to further expansion of the Centre's range of services. Within this project Transas Marine will develop a rotor tug ship models and will integrate real drop-in panel and steering controls from Schottel for advanced training of masters and intergration with pilots in live situations. The simulator will have a number of replaceable panels including a set of controls for Oil Rig vessel manoeuvring and all associated offshore training. This will allow using the system for the simulation training on different vessel types. In addition, the simulator will have a configurable design of the main bridge console with possibility to use real steering wheel from Sperry Marine and Raytheon Anschutz.

The system is based on an innovative Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 ship handling simulator from Transas Marine.  New generation navigational simulator boasts visualization system offering the highest level of realism featuring wind-generated sea state and variable swell model with user selected sea state spectrum, accurate vessel and wave interaction, full scene and environment reflection, and three dimensional bow waves and propeller wash and associated floating object interference. New grounding, synchronous rolling, broaching and other modeling features make training larger than life. Integrated VHF and Intercom solutions, voice communication and CCTV video recording are available for debrief and assessment. Particular attention is paid to radar. Transas reached another level in accurate and realistic radar picture presentation.

Model Wizard software for area creating and editing will contribute to the most accurate port development and design works. In addition to outstanding features of Transas simulators, training realism at the main bridge will be increased using seven EyeVis Seamless wrap round screens to cover 280 degrees with two rear screens for full 360 degree vision.
