Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding, Duclos Corporation, has announced the availability of a new work boat for developers and service providers of offshore wind farms in the United States. The first Catamaran Wind Farm Service Vessel, designed by the shipyard’s high-speed ferry designer, Incat Crowther, and built by Lyme Boats in Exeter, England, is in service on the North Sea. The all-aluminum vessel measures 17 meters overall and is powered by twin diesel engines, each delivering 750hp.  According to the designer, Lyme Boat’s customer, P&O Maritime Services, worked closely with them and the builder to develop a design that provides a higher level of comfort and safety than the typical wind farm service vessels in service today.
