First LNG Shipment from Donggi Senoro in Indonesia

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

August 3, 2015

Indonesia’s $2.8 billion Donggi-Senoro LNG project has shipped its first cargo of the chilled gas on August 2, Mitsubishi Corp, which holds about 45 percent of the project, stated.

The $2.9 billion project, with LNG production capacity of 2 million-tonne-per-year (mtpa), is one of several major gas infrastructure projects that the country hopes will meet mushrooming energy demands at home and around the region.

After 4.5 years of development, the LNG plant operation started June 24 and the first LNG shipment was made to Indonesia's state energy firm Pertamina's Arun LNG receiving terminal, Mitsubishi, which holds around 45 percent of the project, said in a statement.

This project differs from conventional LNG projects in the way that international major oil companies took the initiative in the development and operation of LNG project. This project is also a pioneering project whereby a Japanese enterprise has taken the lead in the development and operation of a LNG project for the first time.

DSLNG will deliver the chilled gas based on long-term contracts to supply 1 million tonnes per annum to Chubu Electric Power, 300,000 tonnes per year to Kyushu Electric Power, and 700,000 tonnes per year to Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas).

Beside Mitsubishi, other partners in the Donggi-Senoro project are Kogas of South Korea, Indonesia’s Medco Energi Internasional and Pertamina.

DSLNG has been supporting the local community from its development phase and will continue to do so after the operational phase. These activities include the creation of job opportunities and training for local communities, and the support of infrastructure including repairs of public roads, and educational support. DSLNG aims to ensure the stable operation of the plant by taking safety, environment and the local community as a priority consideration.
