Centek Industries, 250,000 Lift Mufflers Sold
Centek Industries is observing the sale of its 250,000th water lift muffler since the company’s founding in 1962.
The Centek Vernalift muffler was originally manufactured for small auxiliary propulsion engines installed near or below the water line in sailboats. In the early 1970’s the Vernalift product line was expanded to include larger engines and today Vernalift mufflers are the lift muffler of choice by leading boat builders for engines from five to 2500 horsepower.
Over the past 47 years, Centek has firmly established its reputation as the world’s leading manufacturer of fiberglass wet marine exhaust mufflers and systems. The only exhaust system company to offer fiberglass components that are Lloyd’s Register Type approved, ABS Type approved, and meet or exceed ABYC-P1 standards, Centek holds numerous patents for fiberglass marine exhaust systems and trademarks on seven industry standard products. To date Centek has produced over 1 million exhaust components for both propulsion and Genset applications and enjoys world-wide distribution of its products.
Centek has also sold over 14,000 specially designed exhaust systems manufactured for boat builders over the past 47 years. The company’s engineering staff offers customers over 80 years of marine wet exhaust system design and innovation experience. Centek engineers work with boat builders, naval architects, and engineers around the world to determine the proper system for new or re-powered vessels based on engine size, cost, and available space, while providing a system that offers optimum engine performance and the best sound level and quality. By using CAD and 3D modeling, Centek engineers create custom solutions to meet very specific needs and requirements.
“While these are challenging times for our industry, Centek will continue its long-standing tradition of innovation and outstanding customer service,” said Bill Arwood, Centek Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We will also continue to work with marine associations, boat builders and boat owners around the world to reduce exhaust noise and pollutants,” he added.
Centek’s Gen-Kleen Wet Exhaust Filtration System was developed for boat builders in response to complaints they received from owners about the sheen that was appearing around their boat when the diesel generator was running. The patented system binds hydrocarbons to a filter system and discharges clean water. Centek offers a family of Gen-Kleen products suited for generators from 5 kW and above.
