MARKEY Machinery Creating International Support Network

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA — March 28, 2011— Markey Machinery announced today that it is creating an international network of factory-trained sales and service centers.

Markey is currently evaluating candidate companies around the world. The current focus is on qualified system integration/service companies, located in key markets distant from Markey’s US facility. The company expects to conclude an agreement with an Australian firm shortly, establishing a center there.

A series of recent extraordinary success stories has placed Markey directly center stage in the international maritime spotlight.

Proof-of-concept of Markey Render/Recover Regeneration; is displayed by Foss Maritime’s fully hybrid Carolynn Dorothy. The “hard data” from the world’s first fully hybrid tug is hard to ignore. Foss is clearly ahead developing and providing green operation, while Markey winches can return wasted energy, thus reducing costs of operation. All while adding a higher level of winch control when operating “on a short leash.”

Last year’s dramatic rescue of the Carnival Princess in the Gulf of Mexico provides further proof of the strength of Markey Electric Winch Drive Technology.

“We make no claim on the skill or bravery of the crew,” explains Markey President Blaine Dempke, “but it’s rewarding to know that they had enough confidence in our winch to do what they did.”

Dempke also clarifies Markey’s role aboard the Carolynn Dorothy. “In developing the Carolynn Dorothy, Foss sought to maximize their chances of success by making low risk decisions where they could.  First, they chose a tug design that had proven itself in nine previous conventional builds; second, they utilized their own Rainier Shipyard to tackle the project; and finally, they chose Markey Machinery to apply render/recover technology in a regenerative application.”

That customer confidence is well earned. Markey support during and after the sale in legendary, as is the strength and durability of Markey winches. Maintaining that level of support worldwide is the primary purpose of this new program.
