ISPS/MTSA Update

The U.S. Coast Guard has collected the following nationwide compliance data on both the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) and Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA).

ISPS compliance numbers

Total foreign vessel arrivals: 232

Number of foreign vessels (included above) inspected and approved before July 1: 151

Number of foreign vessels inspected in port: 52

Number of foreign vessels inspected at sea: 3

Number of foreign vessels denied entry beginning July 1: 19

Number of foreign vessels detained in port beginning July 1: 30

The vessel arrivals and inspections reflect activity for Monday, July 5.

The denials of entry and detentions in port are totals for July 1-5. The foreign vessels detained or denied entry failed to comply with the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code.

MTSA compliance numbers

U.S. vessels restricted: 36

U.S. facilities restricted or closed: 20

The numbers of vessels and facilities restricted or closed is current as of 9 p.m. July 5. Restrictions placed on U.S. vessels and facilities range in severity based on the nature of the ship or facility and of non-compliance.
