Jamestown Ferry Repairs to Cause Delays

Delays of 20 minutes or more are expected for motorists and passengers using the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry after three out of four of the boats were rendered inoperable, according to a Daily Press report. The 50-car Surry remains in operation while its twin, the Williamsburg, is temporarily incapacitated by a faulty piston ring. The longest delays of 45 minutes were expected during Friday night's rush hour, while delays of 20 minutes are predicted for this weekend and next week, when commuter traffic is expected to be lighter during the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the report. Another ferry, the 70-car Pocahontas, is undergoing repairs that knocked it out of service Thursday. It's expected to return to service Nov. 28. The Virginia, with a capacity of 28 vehicles, is undergoing routine maintenance and will return to service after the Pocahontas does. Source: The Daily Press
