Crowley Announces Management Team for Petroleum Services Group

Crowley Maritime Corporation announces the appointment of Bruce Barto to vice president and general manager of its newly formed Petroleum Services group based in Seattle. Barto has profit and loss responsibility for Petroleum Services and reports directly to Tom Crowley Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corporation. Reporting to Barto are Bruce Harland who has been promoted to director, operations and will be relocating from Houston to Seattle; Jim Dwight, sales manager, Alaska; Royal Harris, manager, pricing; Chris Dugan, sales manager, oil transportation; and Hugh Stepaniuk who has been promoted to director, finance. Crowley announced the reorganization of its Crowley Marine Services subsidiary into three distinct operating groups in October including, energy and marine services, ship assist and escort services and petroleum services. Petroleum Services includes U.S. West Coast petroleum transportation as well as storage, distribution and sales activities in Alaska. This business group operates a fleet of tank barges and tugs serving the West Coast, provides fuel supply, transportation and delivery services in Alaska, and operates tank farms in several Alaskan communities.

Bruce Barto joined Crowley in 1973 and has held various positions associated with the company’s emergency response, marine services and petroleum distribution activities. Since 1985 he has overseen Crowley’s Alaska oil distribution and marketing business. In 2000, he assumed added responsibility for Crowley’s U.S. West Coast tank barge transportation service line. Bruce Harland joined Crowley in 1984 as a cargo supervisor in Anchorage, Alaska. Since then he has served in positions of increasing responsibility including operations manager in Alaska; manager of bulk operations, general manager of railbelt services, general manager of term contracts; and most recently as general manager for Crowley Marine Transport in Houston. Harland is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and holds an MBA from Seattle University. Hugh Stepaniuk joined Crowley in 1966 as an accountant in Seattle and since that time has served the company in positions of increasing responsibility in finance and risk management. He previously served as Controller for Mukluk Freight Lines in Anchorage; vice president of finance for Arctic Transportation, a Crowley joint venture; Manager of insurance accounting; and manager of accounting. Stepaniuk is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and is a Certified Public Accountant. Jim Dwight, Royal Harris and Chris Dugan are veteran Crowley employees who continue their key positions as part of the Petroleum Services management team.
