With the latest release of the QHSE software solution Synergi Life, DNV GL offers a new Barrier Management module with an integrated system of live bowties and barrier dashboards, for updates and monitoring.

The holistic approach offers a unique way of collecting and consolidating information from both proactive and reactive sources to generate more complete and updated decision support tools, DNV GL said. With the new module users can rapidly track changing risks, preventive barriers and mitigations, leading to improved decision-making in order to secure stable, safe and predictable operations.

“Our customers operate in high-risk environments and have expressed a need to understand and document their barrier status, not only on an operational level, but also on an aggregated corporate level,” said CEO Are Føllesdal Tjønn, DNV GL - Software. “The Barrier Management module offers better ways of aggregating and communicating the status of barriers and improves decision support regarding barriers. That will in turn help our customers become safer and more efficient in their operations.”

“The new module lets you balance the leading and lagging indicators in a way that has never before been done in one single software solution. It also offers valuable insight on questions related to work planning, optimization and efficiency,” said Gisle Bråstein, Product Manager, DNV GL - Software.

The software features a framework to monitor and manage the integrity of barriers with an integrated system of updated bowties and barrier dashboards. This includes drill-downs to the barrier integrity and underlying data status, prompting implementation of actions to maintain integrity. It provides a line of sight from a corporate perspective down to various operational contexts, and individual barrier performance, action plans and improvements. Users can also plug in other operational elements such as incidents, audits, inspections, quality events, change programs and maintenance information to create relations between the barriers and any operational disturbances.
