ABS Grants AIP to KHI's LPG System

ABS, a global provider of classification and technical advisory services to the marine and offshore industries, has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) to Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI) for its LPG as Fuel system design.According to a press release, a dual-fuel engine capable of using both marine diesel oil and LPG as fuel, KHI claims the system simultaneously reduces fuel consumption and enables the engine to meet NOx Tier 3 regulations.“Using LPG as a fuel can lower emissions to air compared to conventional fuels, both in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants.

KN to Operate LNG Terminal in Brazil

Lithuanian company AB Klaipedos Nafta (KN) has been appointed as the operator of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Brazilian Port of Açu.To execute the contract, KN has established a company in Brazil and plans to form a team of up to 30 local specialists in 2020.KN, KN Açu Serviços de Terminal de GNL Ltda. ABS, DSME to Develop Next Gen VLCC, ULCS

Autonomous Shipping – Cyber Hazards Ahead

If autonomous vessels are the future of maritime shipping, then cyber threats may be its Achilles heel. Congested shipping, restricted visibility, limited maneuverability, and intensive docking activities all contribute to port hazards – 42 percent of EU reported marine accidents (injury/death/damage to ships) took place in port areas and 44 percent of workboat fatalities occurred on Tugs. Autonomous shipping should provide numerous benefits including increased safety by relieving crewmembers of unsafe and repetitious tasks.

C-Job Naval Architects said that Mario Gitte has been appointed Vice President Engineering and Edward Verweij has been named Vice President Sales. CSL Launches 2 Ro Pax Vessels for IWAI

India's Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has launched two Ro Pax vessels designed and built for Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).The vessels launched at present are the third and fourth vessels in the series of 10 vessels order from IWAI, said the largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility in India.Cochin Shipyard is building a total of 8 Nos. Ro Pax vessels and 2 Nos Ro-Ro vessels for Inland Waterways Authority of India.IWAI nominated CSL for the construction of these vessels, which will be operated in strategic locations in National Waterways 1&2.

Bank syndicate led by DVB Bank SE completed a $175 million financing of a 34 Bulk Carrier portfolio for Polsteam Group.Polska Żegluga Morska known as Polsteam or PŻM, is a cargo ship operator based in Szczecin, Poland.
