Metal Shark Building Fireboats for Anne Arundel County FD

Louisiana-based boat builder Metal Shark is building two welded-aluminum fireboats for Anne Arundel County Fire Department in Maryland.The new 50 Defiant NXT monohull pilothouse fireboats were designed by Metal Sharkā€™s in-house engineering team and are now under construction at the companyā€™s Franklin, La. shipyard. The newbuilds were ordered to replace the department's 20-year-old main fireboat, Lady Anne, delivered from MetalCraft Marine in 2023. The new vessels will offer faster speeds enabling shorter response timesā€¦

Ailing Bulker Crewman Medvaced in Annapolis

A crewmember reportedly experiencing stroke-like symptoms was medevaced from the bulk carrier Kang Hong in the Annapolis anchorage Tuesday. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew from U.S. Coast Guard Station Annapolis was deployed in response to reports from the Hong Kong flagged bulker that the ailing crew member was in need of medical assistance. Two paramedics from Anne Arundel County Fire Department accompanied the RBM crew. The U.S. Coast Guard removed the crewmember from the ship and transported him back to Station Annapolis, where he was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center via ambulance. "The communication and cooperation between our fellow life-saving agencies in cases like this one helped us conduct a timely response,ā€ said Seaman Colt Coffman, coxswain for the case.

Coast Guard Plucks Sailors from Icy Annapolis Waters

Four people were rescued from frigid waters off Annapolis, Maryland, on Sunday after more than a dozen sailboats capsized during a race held in rough, windy weather, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The Severn Sailing Association reported that 22 people had fallen into the water off 15 small sailboats during a race on Sunday afternoon, the Coast Guard said in a statement. Rescue teams from the Coast Guard's Maryland-National Capital Region, the Maryland State Police, Anne Arundel County Fire Rescue and Maryland Natural Resources Police all responded. A Coast Guard crew based in Annapolis rescued four people from the frigid seas. "The water temperature in the Chesapeake Bay today was 42 degreesā€¦

Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been awarded a contract from Bellingham Fire Department in Washington State for the construction of a M2-38 Catamaran CBRN Emergency Response and Recovery Vessel. The M2-38 aluminum catamaran will be powered by twin Cummins QSB6.7 425hp turbo diesel propulsion engines coupled to Hamilton HJ292 water-jets via TwinDisc 5075SC marine transmissions. The M2 will be equipped with dual Hale 1,000GPM rated fire pumpsā€¦

The new 2,000 Gallon Per Minute rated 37 foot vessel is the most powerful M2 Series fire fighting boat that Moose Boats has built to date. The all aluminum catamaran is powered by twin 425hp Cummins turbo diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton 292 water-jets with dual 1,000 Gallon Per Minute Hale Fire Pumps.

Moose Boats Awarded New Contract for City of New Orleans CBRNE Fire Rescue Vessel. Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been awarded a new contract from the New Orleans Fire Department for the construction of a M3-36 Monohull CBRNE Fire Rescue Boat. The M3 is a new product line for Moose Boats and incorporates the builderā€™s established design and quality reputation in a more compact platform than the M1 and M2 Catamaran Vessels. The M3-36 is a 36ā€™-6ā€ aluminum monohull powered by twin Yamaha 350hp four stroke outboard engines.
