AWT Earns ISO 9001:2008 Certification

Applied Weather Technology, Inc. (AWT), a StormGeo Company, announced it has earned approval of certification to international Quality Management System Standard ISO 9001:2008 by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). AWT’s documented quality management system is now certified by LRQA for the scope: Provision of Ship Route Advisory Services, Maritime Weather Forecasts, Ship Performance Analysis and Design, Development and Sales of Related Software. “Our decision to seek ISO 9001 certification was based on the aim of improving all client facing aspects of the business,” said Haydn Jones, AWT CEO. “This includes product development to sales; operational product and service delivery, to invoicing and customer support. I believe that this focus will benefit both us and our clients.

NAVTOR, AWT Agreement Marks Next Step in E-navigation

NAVTOR has signed an agreement with maritime weather routing specialist Applied Weather Technology (AWT) that will see the two companies integrating their services to offer route planning and decision making tools. As a result of the deal, AWT’s routing and optimization systems will be offered on NAVTOR’s recently launched NavStation software. NavStation operates as the world’s first “digital chart table,” gathering and overlaying all the data maritime navigators require – including ENCs, digital publications, and other services like piracy updates – on a single screen.

AWT, KVH Deliver Weather Service

Applied Weather Technology, Inc. (AWT), a StormGeo company, today announced a partnership with KVH Industries, Inc. to deliver AWT’s BVS high-resolution weather data via the KVH IP-MobileCast WEATHERlink service. AWT’s BVS 7 weather forecasts and ocean data will be delivered to vessels at sea via KVH IP-MobileCast, a service utilizing multicasting technology for a low fixed monthly fee. New Fleet Management System Debuts at SMM 2012

The new fleet management system is completely customizable, designed to improve efficiency and fleet safety while facilitating reductions in total voyage costs. Fuel Optimization Service Introduced by AWT

The service give ship operators the data they need to plan the most efficient voyages, manage total voyage costs, both pre-voyage and en-route, and easily report findings to management. AWT's Fuel Optimization Service is initiated by a client request specifying the vessel's full Charter Party (C/P) speed and consumption as well as any alternative eco-speed(s) being considered. AWT then determines the most efficient, safe route and recommended speed if a required ETA is provided, balancing voyage time and fuel consumption. AWT provides a voyage time and consumption estimate, and total cost when requested, at both the recommended speed to make the required ETA and any alternative eco-speed(s).
