Russia’s first ship designed to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel other vessels with LNG has completed its sea trials, energy firm Gazprom Neft reported on Friday.The Dmitry Mendeleev is expected to enter Gazprom Neft’s fleet in the second half of this year, the company said.“The next stage will be the testing of systems for loading, storing and discharging of LNG,” it said.The Dmitry Mendeleev is an Arc4 ice-class vessel which will be able to transport up to 5,800 cubic meters of LNG. Russia’s first cargo and passenger ship-to-ship LNG-bunkering vessel has been set afloat, Gazprom Neft has informed.“Ship-to-ship” bunkering involves ships being refueled directly from the deck of a specialist bunkering vessel. This technology means bunkering can be undertaken when ships are moored or docked at a pier.The company said Wednesday that the shipyard specialists had completed the main stage in the vessel’s construction, including assembling the hull and installing LNG fuel tanks and other auxiliary systems, in record time.

FESCO Transportation Group, the largest intermodal transport operator in Russia, announced that a new container ship of ice class  ESCO Moneron has recently joined the fleet.The national flag of the Russian Federation was raised on the ship on 21 November 2019.Container ship with a capacity of 822 TEU will be operated on FESCO Magadan cabotage service (FML), that already includes FESCO Magadan sister ship, purchased last year, and FESCO Posyet universal bulk carrier.FESCO Moneron container ship is planned to be put on the line in the end of 2019 or in the beginning of 2020 at the latest.Arc4 ice class of the vessel complies with the standards needed for work in the northern part of the Sea of Okhotsk in winter. A Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) will be built to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS). The agreement on classification of FSRU under construction has been signed between RS and Hyundai Heavy Industries, the Republic of Korea. According to Georgy Bedrik, Head of the RS Planning and Marketing Division, one of the key features distinguishing the FSRU from other gas carriers built to the RS class involves the LNG regasification system, systems for LNG loading from other LNG carriers as well as export of the regasified product to shore.

The Damen Shipyards Group has delivered an ASD Tug 2810 ICE to Klasco Towage Assistance, an affiliate of Klaipeda Stevedoring Company (KLASCO). The largest tugboat service provider in the Port of Klaipeda (Lithuania), this is the company’s first purchase of a Damen tug, although it also currently charters a Damen 3110 from the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, the builder noted. Named the Klasco-3, the ASD Tug 2810 ICE will be based in Klaipeda and participate in day-to-day port towage operations there.

Construction of two supply vessels to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) class, commissioned by the company Lukoil is starting in China. A steel cutting ceremony was held at the Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd in Nantong on June 18, 2014. In accordance with an agreement on the classification of ships under construction, signed by RS and Keppel Nantong Shipyard in the spring of 2014, RS will provide classification and statutory services during their construction. Survey during construction will be implemented by the RS Branch Office in China. When the vessels comply with all applicable international requirements and RS rules, they will be assigned the class notation КМ Arc4 [1] AUT1 ICS FF3WS DYNPOS-2 Supply Vessel.

Finland's Steerprop wins orders from Russia's Severnaya shipyard & the Bharati shipyard in India for ECO CRP propulsors. The orders are for the new generation ECO CRP propulsors that are designed to provide the finest efficiency and maneuverability at even the highest speeds. The combined value of these orders is approximately 10 million Euros. The multi-purpose vessel ordered by the Russian Federation will be powered by two SP 120 ECO CRP -propulsors to operate at speeds of roughly 18 knots.

Severnaya Verf shipyard won the governmental contract in the Russian Defense Ministry's online open auction for three ARC4 ice-class seagoing supply vessels. The auction was held by the Federal Agency for Military Procurements Rosoboronpostavka. Once the contract is signed, Severnaya Verf will start metalworking for the first supply ship no later than in Dec 2012. The shipyard will deliver the first vessel in Nov 2014, the second one – in Nov 2015, and the third one – in Nov 2016. Through recent years, the shipyard has exported two offshore drilling platform replenishment ships.

The vessel is due to be delivered to PKL Flote in the summer of 2013. It is planned to operate the new tugboat in Riga port, where PKL Flote already employs a vessel of the same type – Castor – which has already proved itself very well in Riga Port. PKL intends to keep modernizing its fleet. Twelve new tugboats have been constructed over the past several years, operating in Estonia, Finland and Latvia (Ventspils). The new tugboat is designed as an icebreaking class ARC4, which allows it to operate in areas with one-meter-thick ice, and in addition the tugboat is to be equipped with a powerful external fire-fighting system.
