Hale Named Assistant VP of Finance for Ingram

Leigh Ann Hale has been named Assistant Vice President of Finance for Ingram Barge Company. Hale will oversee all of Ingram Barge Company’s tax administration and the accounts payable department. She joined Ingram Book Company as Director of Tax in 1997 and transferred to Ingram Barge Company January 2003. Prior to Ingram, Ms. Hale served as Senior Tax and Accounting Manager at Elliott, Baily and Amon, PSC, and as Senior Tax Manager at Purolator Products, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and her Master’s degree in Taxation from the University of Tulsa.

Ingram Barge Named to EPA SmartWay Program

Ingram Barge Company has been named as one of the first marine transportation companies to be accepted as a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Program. The announcement was made by Craig E. Philip, CEO of Ingram Barge Company. The EPA program, launched in 2004, was created to identify products and services that reduce transportation related emissions. The program quickly spread to partnerships with government, businesses and consumers – all resulting in measurable air-quality improvements or greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.

Ingram Completes Acquisition of U.S. United Barge Line

Ingram Barge Company today completed its acquisition of U.S. United Barge Line, LLC (“UBL”), a barge transportation company headquartered in Tampa, Florida. The proposed transaction was announced on April 19 and, following the receipt of necessary government approval and satisfaction of other closing conditions, Ingram officials said today they had finalized the sale and that the process of integrating the UBL business will begin immediately. Approximately 300 UBL associates will join Ingram, and 17 towboats and some 650 barges will be added to the Ingram fleet. Orrin H. At its Annual Meeting held October 1 in Houston, the Board of Directors of Waterways Council, Inc. Ingram Marine Announces Executive Promotions

Tug Company Honored

Island Tug and Barge Ltd. of Vancouver, B.C., received an award from the Washington Department of Ecology for excellence in marine safety and environmental stewardship. The Exceptional Compliance Program (Ecopro) Award was presented at the Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center on Pier 66, 2205 Alaska Way, in Seattle. Tank-barge companies receive the Ecopro Award only if they meet or exceed all 26 of Ecology's marine-safety standards for tank barges. Island Tug and Barge is the fifth company to earn the award since the program began in 1999. This is the first tug-and-barge company to receive the award. "Island Tug and Barge has demonstrated its commitment to the environment by voluntarily meeting our state's tough marine-safety standards," said Ecology Director Jay Manning.

Ingram Barge to Participate in EPA’s SmartWay

Ingram Barge Company announced its participation in the new Barge Freight component of the SmartWay Transport Partnership, a public-private partnership between the U.S. Government’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the country’s leading private industry freight carriers and freight users aimed at reducing carbon, oxides of nitrogen and particulate matter emissions. Ingram has been involved with the EPA in helping to develop, test and pilot the tool since 2010 and Ingram hopes that others will follow its lead in committing to improve efficiency and reduce pollution. SmartWay, currently composed of more than 3,000 truck and rail carriers and the shippers that hire them, is adding a new Barge Freight component this year.

Barge Company Indicted Regarding Benzene Leak

The US Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky issued a press release stating that a barge company and three employees have been indicted for violations of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, the Clean Water Act, and conspiracy. Allegedly, a barge owned by the company experienced a benzene leak. The leak was patched, but not reported to the US Coast Guard. The barge suffered a second leak, while being operated by another company. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Source: HK Law

P.B. (Kaj) Shah, Senior Vice President of Customer Service, was named President of Ingram Barge company. The appointment was announced by Craig E. Philip, CEO of Ingram Barge Company. Shah has been an Ingram executive since 1989. Most recently, he has been responsible for managing the logistics and transportation needs of Ingram’s dry cargo customers. During his more than 20 years at Ingram, Shah has held various positions in Logistics, Corporate Development, Planning and Strategy, and Information Technology with several Ingram companies.

Ingram promotes Crystal Taylor to Senior Vice President and Controller. Ingram Barge Company today announced the promotion of Crystal Taylor to Senior Vice President and Controller effective June 1. Ms. Taylor joined Ingram in 1993 as a staff accountant at Ingram Book Company. She transferred to Ingram’s marine group in 2003 as Director of Financial Projects and was named Vice President for Finance and Accounting in 2011. She will succeed Al Oldham who is retiring. Mr. Oldham joined Ingram Barge Company in December 1989 and was promoted to Senior Vice President and Controller in 2002.

Moody's: Sale of Inland River Barge Ops is a "Credit Negative" for United Maritime

New York, April 24, 2012 -- Moody's issued a press release on the planned sale of United Maritime Group, LLC's ("UMG", B2 stable) inland river barge operation, United Barge Line, LLC ("UBL") to Ingram Barge Company (not rated) for $222 million, calling it is negative for the company's credit profile. Ingram Barge Acquires 92 Barges from Investment Fund

Ingram Barge Company announced the acquisition of 92 barges, including 17 tank barges with 10,000 barrel capacity, 62 jumbo covered hopper barges with fiber lift covers, and 13 jumbo open hopper barges from an affiliate of Ospraie Special Opportunities Fund.  All of the acquired barges were built between 2004 and 2008. Out of Service Tug Sinks in Alaska

An out of service tug has sunk at the Samson Tug and Barge Company pier in Sitka, Alaska. The 81-foot vessel Powhatan owned by Samson Tug and Barge Company sank at the pier on the evening of April 19 and subsequently slid under the pier approximately 200 yards along an underwater ledge. U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment Sitka and Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation personnel are responding. Samson Tug and Barge Company is developing a salvage plan and has contracted Southeast Alaska Petroleum Response Organization for oil recovery and Hanson Maritime to dive and survey the tug.
