Equinor, ESB Target Irish Offshore

Ireland-based energy company Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and Norwegian energy company Equinor plan to jointly develop offshore wind sites and enter them into the country's renewable energy auctions from the mid-2020s.The partnership will work to identify suitable sites for new offshore windfarms in Irish waters and work to mature potential future wind projects. The potential for energy storage technology and other technologies to complement offshore wind operations will also be examined.

NJ Governor Doubles Offshore Wind Goal

As New Jersey steps up efforts to eliminate fossil fuels over the next three decades, the state is more than doubling its target for offshore-wind energy production under an executive order signed by Gov. New York Seeks 800 MW Offshore Wind

Newly re-elected Governor Andrew M. Cuomo issued a comprehensive solicitation seeking 800 megawatts or more of new offshore wind projects for New York.According to a press release issued by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) he state's first offshore wind procurement is moving rapidly. Long Beach Port Launches Zero-Emissions Project

Officials from the Port of Long Beach, Southern California Edison and the California Energy Commission today launched the nation’s largest pilot project for zero-emissions cranes and other cargo-handling equipment for seaports. Funded mostly by a $9.7 million grant from the California Energy Commission, the project will bring 25 vehicles that are zero- or near zero-emissions to Port of Long Beach marine terminals for one year to test their performance in a real-world setting.

President Requests $364.8M for MMS

With a budget designed to increase America’s energy security by expanding the nation’s energy portfolio and ensuring a fair return for these public resources, the President has proposed $364.8m in funding for the Minerals Management Service (MMS) in fiscal year 2011. While this represents an increase of $16.5m from the 2010 enacted level, the request reflects the President’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and the prudent investment of taxpayer dollars. “The request for MMS is intended not only to help increase national energy security by continuing to establish an aggressive renewable energy program but also to improve our collection of federal royalties,” said MMS Director Liz Birnbaum.
