Rolls-Royce has delivered the first 16-cylinder engines of the mtu Series 8000, two 16V 8000 M71L engines built for the Taiwanese shipyard CSBC Corporation to power new patrol vessels for the Taiwanese Coast Guard. The two engines deliver 7,280 kW of power each and will accelerate the 1000-ton class vessels to up to 24 knots. A total of six vessels of this class will be built with mtu engines, and the engines will be delivered by the end of 2022. MacArtney completed its order of a launch and recovery (LARS) system for Taiwan National University, the fifth Ocean Research Vessel (ORV) in the Asia Pacific region to date. MacArtney Asia Pacific provided the full launch and recovery system solution for the new vessel R/V New Ocean Researcher 1 (ORV 1), including slip rings, cables and docking heads. The 1,000 GT RV was completed on July 21, 2020.Behind ORV 1 is the CSBC Corporation, which built the ship for end-user Taiwan National University. Marine Jet Power (MJP) has been awarded a multi-unit, multi-year contract with CSBC Shipyard to provide propulsion for 15, 100-ton class vessels for the Taiwan Coast Guard (TCG).The 34-meter vessels will be built at CSBC’s facility in Keelung, Taiwan. Taiwanese marine joint venture (JV) company CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) has signed two contracts for the transport and installation of foundations and turbines at the 300MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm (OWF).The JV between Taiwanese outfit CSBC and Belgian contractor DEME Offshore will aim to deliver the project, owned by China Steel Corporation (CSC), in 2024.The 300 MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm, developed by China Steel Corporation, is planned for completion in 2024. In order to implement the localisation policy required by the Taiwanese government, the Zhong Neng Wind Power Corporation Preparatory Office has worked closely with CDWE, with the aim of maximising local content.
