Meyer Werft Floats Out AIDAcosma

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has floated out its latest newbuilding, the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered AIDAcosma, for Carnival's AIDA Cruises.The 337-meter-long vessel is the sister ship of the AIDAnova, which Meyer Werft completed in 2018 as the world's first cruise ship to run entirely on LNG.Having left Meyer Werft's covered building dock II (Hall 6), the newbuild is now moored at the outfitting pier in the shipyard harbor, where the masts and funnel will be lifted onto the ship by crane and assembled, and the interior outfitting will be completed.

Meyer Werft to Float Out of Norwegian Encore Soon

Norwegian shipbuilder Meyer Werft announced that Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)'s newest cruise ship Norwegian Encore will most likely be leaving the covered building dock II on 17 August 2019.The ship has a rating of 169,145 GRT and measures 333.46 m in length and 41.4 m in width, with capacity for 4,004 passengers.The ship built for the American cruise shipping company NCL will start to leave the dock at around 8 a.m, it said. Once Norwegian Encore has left the dock, it will berth at the shipyard's out-fitting pier to be fitted with its funnel cladding.The ship will then remain in the shipyard port for further out-fitting work and on-board trials until its passage through the river Ems up to the North Sea…

Spectrum of the Seas Floated Out

Spectrum of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest ship designed specifically for the Chinese market, has left Meyer Werft’s covered building dock II.The ship has a rating of 169,300 GT and measures 347.75 m in length and 41.4 m in width, with ca-pacity for 4,188 passengers.Spectrum of the Seas will berth at the shipyard's out-fitting pier to be fitted with its funnel cladding. Weather permitting, the North Star (glazed viewing capsule) will also be installed on the ship.The ship will then remain in the shipyard port for further out-fitting work and on-board trials until its passage through the river Ems up to the North Sea, which will probably take place mid March.Now the floating part for the Norwegian Encore…

Meyer Werft Floats Out Norwegian Joy

Norwegian Cruise Line’s first cruise ship custom designed for China has been floated out of Meyer Werft’s covered building dock II on March 4 in Papenburg, Germany, where the 168,800-gross-ton ship has been under construction since September 2015. Beginning early Saturday morning, the 3,850 passenger vessel, Norwegian Joy, departed building dock II. Now well on its way to completion, the 324-meter-long and 41.4-meter-wide Norwegian Joy will move into the final phase of construction ahead of its April 27, 2017 delivery.

Meyer Werft Plans Norwegian Joy Float-out

The 168,800 gt cruise ship Norwegian Joy currently being built by MEYER WERFT is scheduled to float out of the builder’s covered building dock II on March 4, 2017, pending weather conditions.   With the 324-meter-long, 41.4-meter-long-wide ship being berthed at the yard's pier, the remaining work and tests and trials will be carried out in the next few days.   Norwegian Joy will travel down the river Ems toward the North Sea, where she will undergo sea trials in the end of March 2017.

Anthem of the Seas Ready for Float-Out

The latest cruise ship under construction - Anthem of the Seas - will leave building dock II of Meyer Werft shipyard in Northwestern Germany on February 21. The 168.600-gt cruise ship Anthem of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ship in the world, is schedule to leave the shipyard's covered building dock early morning around 07.00 am. The ship is bing built for U.S. cruise operator Royal Caribbean International. Following the float-out, the Anthem of the Seas will be berthed alongside the yard's pier for one night, before being turned on 22 February for the thruster and stabilizer tests in the yard's harbour. Germany's Meyer Werft Float Out 'Norwegian Getaway'

The 146,600-gt cruise ship 'Norwegian Getaway', whose construction has taken just 12 months, has been floated out of Meyer Werft 's covered building dock II for fitting out after tests in the harbour. The new cruise ship's passage down the River Ems towards the North Sea is scheduled to be in the next few weeks with a mid-Janaury 2014 delivery and the crew are already on board for familiarization. The ship has a length overall of 324 m and is 39.70 m wide. Meyer Werft say that its construction complies with the latest safety standards, and the ship meets all valid environmental regulations.

Waterfront Entrance for Norwegian Breakaway

Norwegian Breakaway, the largest ship ever constructed in Germany, floated out of Meyer Werft’s covered building dock II at the end of February. The luxury cruise ship will undertake sea trials before her delivery to the owner and passage to her home port of New York by May 7th, 2013. The build project represented Bolidt’s highest profile decking commitment for a maritime customer through 2012, with 16,500m2 of surfacing materials delivered. This year, deliveries of Bolideck 525 and Bolideck Future Teak have already started for sister ship Norwegian Getaway, which is due delivery in 2014.

Cruise Ship Fire in German Shipbuilder's Building Dock

A fire leading to significant smoke formation broke out on a ship newbuilding in the covered building dock II. At present the shipyard’s fire brigade and members of the Papenburg fire department are still in operation on the yard premises. The affected production areas and the shipyard’s visitors centre were evacuated. As of now there are no detailed indications as the reason for the fire. “In general we install large-size safety and detection systems on our ships as early as [sic] in the construction period. Hence we could react very quickly,” explained the yard’s safety manager, Markus Wähler. As it stands at present nobody was injured. New Cruise Ship to be Floated Out by Meyer Werft Shortly

Fifth ship for US cruise company Celebrity Cruises scheduled to launch from the Papenberg, Germany, building dock
. On early Sunday morning of 12 August, 2012, the Celebrity Reflection, the new cruise ship for the US cruise company Celebrity Cruises (Miami), is planned to be floated out of the covered building dock II of Meyer Werft, assisted by tugs. The 126,000-gt cruise ship Celebrity [Reflection] is 319 m long and 37.40 m wide. In 1,515 cabins more than 3,030 passengers can be accommodated.

Norwegian Cruise Lines Keel Laying Ceremony

The keel laying of the cruise ship with the yard number S.678 was celebrated at the Meyer Werft shipyard recently. The first of 73 blocks of the 144,000 GT vessel was lifted into the covered building dock II. In the dock, Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s CEO, laid the traditional "lucky coin", before the block was put down by the 800-ton crane. The ship's first block that weighs more than 350 tons marks the start of the ship's construction in the yard's building dock. 'Norwegian Breakaway' is scheduled for delivery in spring 2013.

Halifax Dock Sinking Won’t Impact Navy Work

A May 12 story from The Chronicle Herald reported that the Canadian navy’s frigate modernization program at Halifax Shipyard will be unaffected by the sinking of the Scotia Dock II, according to union officials. Layoffs were not expected but there may be some shift changes as a result of the sinking. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. has a maintenance contract worth about $549m for the Canadian navy’s East Coast frigates. (Source: The Chronicle Herald)
