Ecochlor Expands in Southeast Asia

Kevin Hawes has started at  Seattle-based maritime services company and consultancy The Maritime Group (TMG) International Ltd., as Business Development Manager and Senior Consultant. Based at TMG’s London office at Victoria Embankment, he brings a wealth of commercial experience gained since leaving the British Royal Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in 1993. Entries Sought for SHIPPINGInsight Award

Entries are now being accepted for the 2015 SHIPPINGInsight Award, which will be presented at the SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference & Exhibition, Oct. 13 in Stamford, Conn. The annual award honors a ship operating company and its technology partners for the successful implementation of an innovative technology or initiative that advances the state-of-the-art in ship and fleet optimization. A panel of independent judges will review entries and select the winner. The award will be presented at a gala awards luncheon on the opening day of the conference. Award submissions should be in the form of a case study. Projects must have been completed within calendar year 2014 or 2015. The entry may be submitted by either the fleet operator or its technology suppliers.

Emerson Wins Shell Prelude UPS Contract

Emerson Network Power, a US-based Emerson business, says it has been selected as the main uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems provider for Shell’s Prelude FLNG project, the world’s first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project, currently under construction in Korea for deployment to the Browse Basin off the coast of Western Australia. Emerson Network Power explain that they will help provide reliable standby power for critical process functions, such as the main automation systems, fire and gas detection systems, and telecommunications.

Emerson Process Management and SeaTec Repair Services announce a cooperative relationship to provide marine fuel measurement solutions, intended to help marine customers save in operating expense and ensure accurate billing. The cooperative relationship will offer marine customers no-hassle installation of Micro Motion ® fuel measurement solutions on a global scale. Emerson’s Micro Motion fuel measurement solutions provide accurate measurement of heavy fuel oil, in bunkering and control of fuel burn, which help customers save on operating expense and ensure accurate billing.

BP Selects Offshore Automation Contractor of Choice

Emerson will be BP’s preferred supplier of integrated control and safety systems for five offshore fields in the U.K. continental shelf, including the new Clair Ridge platforms and the Quad 204 floating production, storage and offloading vessel. Emerson’s selection as contractor of choice builds on an earlier agreement in which the company was named a Main Automation Contractor for BP projects globally. By standardizing on a single contractor for its North Sea region, BP expects to gain significant benefits including efficient project execution, training, maintenance and support. Emerson will provide a wide range of services for control and safety systems, from front-end engineering and design to installation, testing and support.

APL Logistics wins Emerson Rosemount’s Supplier Award

APL Logistics has received the best supplier award from global manufacturing technology giant Emerson’s Rosemount business unit for the second year in a row. Emerson, Rederi AB Develop Flowmeters for Fuel Efficiency

Following a joint program by Rederi AB Transatlantic, Transas AB, and Emerson Process Management to develop an onboard solution for better control of marine fuel consumption, Rederi AB Transatlantic has installed Emerson’s Micro Motion Coriolis mass flowmeters on several ships in its fleet. The standard solution uses a compact Micro Motion F100-Series Coriolis sensor with a Model 1700 transmitter to provide highly accurate, traceable and transparent mass-based measurement of fuel oil. Using the MODBUS communications protocol, the mass flowmeter sends data to a fuel efficiency control system supplied by Transas AB in Sweden. This system, also called a Conning unit, collects information from the flowmeter and other onboard systems to help the crew optimize the operation of the ship.

Severn Trent Expands Wastewater Markets, Asia Pacific

Severn Trent Services announced a major expansion of its sales and service operations in the Asia Pacific region with recent hirings and promotions of six water and wastewater professionals – four in its Shanghai, China, office and two in Singapore. Emerson Wins Contract with Golar LNG

Emerson Process Management has won a contract from Golar LNG to supply PlantWeb digital automation architecture for basic process control and safety systems on the Golar Freeze, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) vessel. Currently an LNG carrier, the Golar Freeze will be converted into a floating terminal, and docked at a purpose-built jetty in the Jebel Ali Port near Dubai, UAE. Golar will operate the vessel. Dubai Supply Authority (Dusup) will operate the jetty and the high pressure export line into Dubai to supply needed gas during high energy demand months in the summer.

Emerson Opens Marine and Offshore Engineering Center in Oslo

Emerson Process Management announces the opening of a new engineering center in , responsible for providing front end engineering services and project management expertise to the marine and offshore industry. LNG Market Poised for Massive Growth

There has been plenty of talk recently about the birth of a spot and short-term charter market for lng carriers. Indeed some LNGoperators have formed strategic alliances to prepare for these potentially new trades. However, R.S.Platou Shipbrokers of Norway believes that the volume of LNGtonnage currently on order could yet force some owners to work short-term deals by the end of this decade whether they like it or not. According to the broker’s statistics, some 60 new LNG carriers will have been ordered during this year and, by the end of November, the orderbook consisted of 104 vessels equivalent to about 80% of the existing fleet.

Wärtsilä Completes Power, Automation and Propulsion System for FPSO

Wärtsilä was awarded a contract in May 2007 by the Brazilian offshore company Dynamic Producer Inc. to supply the entire power, automation and propulsion system for a dynamically-positioned well-testing FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) vessel with the project name PIPA II. The project is due for completion in the first part of 2009. This dynamically-positioned well-testing vessel will be converted from an existing Aframax tanker and equipped with drilling, as well as production equipment. Emerson Acquires Marine Valve Supplier

Engineering firm Emerson Electric Co. has acquired marine valve supplier Damcos Holding AS, the AP reported Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Damcos Holding supplies valve remote controls and tank monitoring equipment to the marine and shipbuilding industries. Damcos will become part of Emerson's process management business, which helps companies automate their production and processing systems. Wärtsilä Automation Norway and Emerson Process Management to Form Alliance

Wärtsilä's subsidiary Wärtsilä Automation Norway and Emerson Process Management, a business of the US company Emerson have decided to form an alliance to provide process automation systems for FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) vessels. Wärtsilä Automation Norway brings expertise in automation systems for marine and offshore applications, and Emerson process management. Engineering teams from both companies will work together to develop solutions suitable for FPSO vessels. The aim is to offer solutions that will raise efficiency and reduce costs. Emerson Wins Contract

Emerson Process Management has supplied over 1500 Rosemount pressure and temperature transmitters for use in the Sakhalin II offshore oil and gas production project in the Sea of Okhotsk. Situated in Russia’s far east; Sakhalin Island, North of Japan, experiences environmental conditions which provide a challenge to measurement instrumentation, with extremes of ambient temperature (from -45 to +40C) and wide daily changes.
