FIT Speeds-up Flow of Cargo
Florida International Terminal (FIT) has successfully deployed the eModal Community Portal (eCP) PreGate appointment module to improve turn times and customer service.The port operator of a 41 acre marine terminal in the Southport area of Port Everglades is the first port terminal in South Florida to implement an appointment system.Advent Intermodal Solutions, provider of the eModal suite of applications that simplify and accelerate the flow of cargo across the landside supply chain, said that this is Phase One of FITâs eModal implementation.In this first phase, truckers picking up import containers will now schedule a pick-up appointment via eModal.
SC Ports to Use Tideworks Solutions
The provider of comprehensive terminal operating system (TOS) solutions, Tideworks Technology announced that South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) has successfully gone live with Tideworksâ graphical planning solution, Spinnaker, at the Port of Charlestonâs Wando Welch and North Charleston terminals.This is the first phase of the Port of Charleston project and the second implementation of Tideworksâ TOS solutions within the SCPA network. Inland Port Dillon went live with Tideworksâ Intermodal Pro® terminal operating system in April 2018.In this first phase of the project, all stevedores in the port complex have access to the systemâs platform to increase process visibility throughout the terminal.
Oakland Port Digitalized to Move Cargo Faster
Port of Oakland officials has promised a digital shipping platform by mid-year to speed up global trade flows. The Port said itâs building an online portal for transactions that range from tracking to transporting containerized cargo. The move aligns with an industry migration toward digitalization of international supply chains for the sake of efficiency. The Port previewed its portal - called a digital collaboration platform - at an American Association of Port Authorities meeting in Oakland. Port officials said it would provide a single window for cargo owners or freight haulers who want to: Get personalized cargo status updates; Check ocean vessel schedules; Pay freight-handling fees; or Make appointments to pick up containerized cargo.
Intermodal IT Company Advent Names New CEO
Murray Hill-based intermodal information technology company Advent Intermodal Solutions on Tuesday announced it has named a new CEO as it plans a redesign of its signature supply chain management system. Parvez Mansuri, who at one time was chief information officer of the company, will now serve as CEO after spending the past four years running an independent venture known as Wireless Asset Management. Mansuri, who had been serving as an adviser and director to AIS, was previously with the company from 2001 to 2011, serving as CIO from 2003 on. âWeâre delighted to welcome Parvez Mansuri and his extensive experience in the industry back to the Advent family,â said a statement issued by the AIS board of directors.
Advent Intermodal Delivers eModal Wharfage Module for NSW Ports
NSW Ports has successfully deployed Adventâs eModal wharfage module for Port Botany in Sydney and Port Kembla in Wollongong, says Advent Intermodal Solutions, a leading provider of IT-based intermodal solutions. The wharfage solution is part of eModalâs Port Community System (PCS) solutions suite. The SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) implementation is part of NSW Portsâ comprehensive plan to transition port operations from legacy IT systems to a new IT environment where Adventâs plug ân play, SaaS-based, eModal wharfage module complements NSW Portsâ plan. NSW Ports is a privately owned company that developed the plan when in 2013 it acquired through public tender a 99-year lease to manage and develop Port Botany and the Port Kembla port assets from the NSW Government.
PierPass' New President Responsible for Ports of LA & Long Beach
New president John Cushingâs role gives him responsibility for PierPass programs to relieve congestion and improve air quality at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. He takes over the role of president from Bruce Wargo, who has led PierPass since its founding in 2004 and remains CEO. âJohnâs leadership in services for terminal operators, trucking companies and cargo owners, along with his experience developing and managing a new international container terminal, put PierPass and the OffPeak Program in able hands,â Mr. Wargo said. Mr. Wargo has taken on the additional role of PierPass board chairman. Under the OffPeak program, the 13 international container terminals at the two adjacent ports operate additional shifts on nights and Saturdays.
