U.S. Appeals Court Affirms Atlantic, Arctic Offshore Leasing Bans

A federal appeals court on Tuesday confirmed bans on offshore oil leasing in most federal Arctic waters and in the Atlantic after the Trump Administration tried to open them up to development.The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said President Joe Biden's reinstatement of Obama-era protections makes moot the previous administration's attempts to allow oil development there.The Trump administration pressed for oil-and-gas development throughout the United States as the nation's crude production surged to a record 13 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2019.

Greece Calls for Tougher EU Stance Over Turkish Mediterranean Exploration

France to Increase Mediterranean Military Presence over Turkish Oil & Gas Exploration

France will increase its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean, President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday, calling on Turkey to halt oil and gas exploration in disputed waters that has heightened tensions with Greece.The French leader voiced concern over "unilateral" exploration by Turkey in a call with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Macron's office said in a statement. Total Makes 'Encouraging' North Sea Discovery

Total has made a hydrocarbon discovery at the Isabella exploration well in the UK Central North Sea, Neptune Energy, Total's partner in the project has informed.Neptune Energy has described Isabella as "an encouraging hydrocarbon discovery" which encountered hydrocarbons in Upper Jurassic and Triassic sandstone reservoirs, with 64 meters net pay encountered, consisting of lean gas and condensate and high-quality light oil."The results of the well will be analyzed to further evaluate the discovery, determine future appraisal activity and recoverable resources estimates.

Russia Leads E&P Race in Arctic Region

Karoon Hires Stena Drillship for Peru

Kosmos Strikes Oil Off Equatorial Guinea

E&P Companies Struggle on RoI

International  exploration & production (E&P) are struggling to make money from offshore investments made during the latest investment upturn, according to a new study by Rystad Energy.Rystad Energy has evaluated all offshore oil fields sanctioned since 2010 and ranked them by estimated value per barrel of oil (boe) under various oil price scenarios. Orca-1 is Largest Gas Discovery of the Year

Novatek Wins Arctic Gas Field

Investments in Exploration Drilling to Double

Rystad Energy sees investments both in offshore and onshore exploration drilling doubling in the next five years, compared to the last five years. Neptune Acquires Interests in Offshore Indonesia

Neptune Energy East Sepinggan, subsidiary of the European exploration and production company Neptune Energy has agreed to acquire interests from the Eni East Sepinggan Limited, a unit of Eni in the Kutei basin production sharing contracts (PSC) offshore Indonesia.According to a press release from the Italian multinational oil and gas company, it  will continue to be the Operator of the area which is located in the East Sepinggan area, offshore East Kalimantan in Indonesia, and includes Merakes development and Merakes East discovery. BWVI, EXPL Team Scores Again

Blue Water Ventures International  (BWVI) and project partner Endurance Exploration Group (EXPL), are well into the 2019 recovery season on the SB Pulaski. The SB Pulaski sank in 1838 while in route from Savannah, Georgia to Baltimore, Maryland. She carried some of the South’s wealthiest families. The shipwreck was considered the “Titanic” of its’ day. The Blue Water Rose has been based out of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina since mid June. As weather permits, on site excavations have continued with the recovery of more silver and copper coins; most from US origins, a small gold pocket watch, silver ware and wreck material. A more detailed survey of bottom conditions has shown Hurricane Florence (September 2018) had a bigger impact on the seabed than was earlier believed.

Further Delay in Barryroe Project Loan

Ireland's offshore Oil and gas company Providence Resources has again pushed back a deadline to receive $9mln of funding from Apec, its farm-in partner in the key Barryroe site off the south west coast.The loan from Barryroe's Chinese backer was due by June 14. It is now due to be received in July 5, the company said."Due to delays associated with internal transaction processing with their investors, APEC have formally requested a further extension of time for the payment of the initial US$ 9 million loan. EXOLA and Lansdowne have agreed to this further extension of the backstop date to no later than July 5, 2019," it said.Subject to receipt of all regulatory consents and required financing, the well-site survey operations are expected to commence Q3 2019.

Inpex Submits Revised Indonesian LNG Plan

Japan's largest oil and gas exploration and production company Inpex Corporation has submitted a revised plan of development (POD) for the Abadi  LNG Project, a gas field on the remote Masela Block in the Arafura Sea off Indonesia. The revised POD is based on an onshore LNG development scheme with an annual LNG production capacity of 9.5 million tons.
