APM Terminals Mumbai Goes Online

At APM Terminals Mumbai it is now possible to submit Additional Service Requests (ASR) via its online Customer Service Portal. Replacing a manual process, this new automated process is quicker, simpler and more transparent for customers.Around 20 import and 20 export services can now be requested online, ranging from priority delivery, seal fixing, and inter-terminals transfers to early or late gate-ins, empty container storage and break-bulk handling.Requests for additional services are activated immediately, removing the need to allow for 24 hours processing. Maersk Line New Services at Kakinada Port

Maersk Line India announced the introduction of Export and Import service offerings at Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh. This End to End service (Store Door) will enable customers in the region to reach global touch points. With this first time offering in Kakinada, Maersk Line will be able to containerize cargo at its origin, cut out wastage and complexities of dealing with multiple vendors and help move it to port in a cost-effective manner. This will have a direct bearing on rice farmers and growers in the region that would benefit from the ease that it brings and makes customers compete successfully in key rice export markets like Europe, Mediterranean, Middle East and the United States.

MOL Signs Long-Term Charter with Uruguayan JV for FSRU

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, has, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Lakler S.A., agreed to conclude a charter contract with Gas Sayago, for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project in Montevideo, Uruguay. Gas Sayago is a joint venture (JV) owned by UTE – the Uruguayan state power company – and ANCAP – the state oil company. The contract will take effect upon governmental approval which is expected to be granted by the end of 2016. The FSRU will be equipped with the largest LNG storage tank (263,000m3) of any FSRU in the world, and supply gas to Uruguay and its neighboring countries. It is currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. in South Korea.

Troy Container Line Expands Services in Ireland

The new EMERALD ISLE EXPRESS sailing service will begin on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from all USA CFS stations to a choice of three Ireland-based CFS stations with door-to-door delivery options throughout 96 cities. The new fixed day sailings will allow Troy Container Line to reach a broad range of destinations across Ireland. Cyprus Pledges Support for Shipping

The government of Cyprus will support and bolster growth of the country’s maritime sector, Marios Demetriades, minister of transport, communications and works, said, reports In-Cyprus. “I would like to assure you that the Cyprus government is fully committed to safeguarding the shipping and maritime sector by doing the utmost to guarantee continuous sustainable growth,” Demetriades said. “Our shipping industry has been one of Cyprus’s most successful export services and constitutes a valuable asset,” he said. The industry currently contributes 7% to the island's GDP, and with the launch of a new maritime strategy, Anastasiades believes maritime will "contribute significantly", saying that he is devoted to "safeguarding the sector".

APM Terminals Pipavav Starts New Ro/Ro Service

With 1,300 new Indian-built Ford automobiles loaded onto the Grand Dahlia on August 27th for delivery to Mexico, a new era for the Indian auto industry and Gujarat Port Pipavav commenced. The 59,217 gross ton roll on/roll off (Ro/Ro) vessel was the first to call Western India’s fastest-growing port, operated as part of the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network. APM Terminals Pipavav announced the inauguration of Ro/Ro operations at the multi-purpose port last June after concluding an agreement with Japanese-based NYK subsidiary NYK Auto Logistics (NAL) India for finished car export services and the construction of a new automobile services terminal.

CaroTrans Launches US-Japan LCL Export Service

Global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator CaroTrans announced a new weekly less than container load (LCL) service from Atlanta to major markets in Japan including: Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Nagoya and Osaka. This service eliminates transshipment and double handling in Los Angeles and Busan. Freight moves from Atlanta to Tokyo in 29 days, Yokohama in 30 days, and Osaka, Nagoya and Kobe in 33 days. In Japan, CaroTrans’ partner of 16 years, Seino Logix, provides secure unpack and expedited distribution throughout Japan. Overall, the CaroTrans - Seino Logix service portfolio is comprised of six export services – Chicago, Charleston, New York/New Jersey, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle to Japan, and now Atlanta.

MOL America Announces Corporate Sales Changes

Additionally, Richard Jung, who currently assistant vice president of sales, central region, has been appointed to assume the duties of vice president of sales in replacing Dennis Sheehan, vice president of sales, who has decided to leave MOL (America) Inc. to pursue other opportunities.

CaroTrans, MOLAX LINE Partner for U.S.-Northern Asia Service

CaroTrans, a global NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier) and ocean freight consolidator, announced a new cooperation with MOLAX LINE, an independent NVO in South Korea, which the companies say will create a stronger, more robust LCL service network in the transpacific trade. The CaroTrans-MOLAX alliance will offer secure, local service for import and export cargo moving between the U.S. and Northern Asia. CaroTrans has an extensive North American network of 14 branch offices and 24 CFS (container freight stations). In Busan, MOLAX owns and operates a 380,000 sq. foot warehouse and will have a second warehouse of 360,000 sq. feet completed mid-2014.

INTTRA & Craft Group Sign Stategic Agreement

Lineage Logistics Acquires Seattle Cold Storage

Lineage Logistics, a warehousing and logistics company sponsored by Bay Grove Capital LLC, announced today that it has acquired the assets of Seattle Cold Storage (SCS) and its facilities located in the Port of Tacoma and Algona, WA. The acquisition increases Lineage’s footprint to over 13 million square feet and 290 million cubic feet, which represents the second largest refrigerated warehouse network globally based on data from the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. SCS is one of the Puget Sound’s largest public refrigerated warehousing (PRW) companies and provides a breadth of service offerings including temperature-controlled storage, import / export services, retail distribution, and transportation services.

US$44-million Houston Ship Channel Expansion Planned

Houston-based Oiltanking Partners LP to expand its terminal on the Houston Ship Channel to meet demand to export liquefied petroleum gas. Expansion plans include a new vessel dock and upgrades to existing ones and should be completed by the end of 2014. The expansion will take the loading capacity from its current rate of four million barrels per month to about 7.5 million barrels per month, reports Houston Business Journal. Oiltanking will provide import and export services from the expansion exclusively to Houston-based Enterprise Products Partners LP. Expansion plans include a new vessel dock and upgrades to existing ones and should be completed by the end of 2014.

GE Oil & Gas Win Petrobas FPSO Contract

GE Technology will be used on 4 new Floating Production, Storage & Offloading Units (FPSOs) for the Santos Basin (São Paulo State), in the Pre-Salt Fields. GE Oil & Gas wins the contract worth more than US$500-million to supply turbomachinery equipment and services to Petrobras, a world leader in deep-water oil production. The contract will serve the four new floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSOs P-74, P-75, P-76 and P-77) in the Cessão Onerosa region of the Santos Basin pre-salt fields, in the state of São Paulo.
