Inmarsat Expects Asia Pacific Coverage to Double

Inmarsat’s I-6 F1 satellite has connected to new ground stations in Perth and Merredin, Western Australia, as it aims to provide an upgrade in communications availability for the region.I-6 F1 launched in December 2021 and spent seven months travelling to geostationary orbit above the Atlantic. The spacecraft is now at its final orbital slot above the Indian Ocean, and the company will begin increasing its capacity and transition services to the new satellite throughout 2023,

Inmarsat has launched its latest I-6 F2 spacecraft from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.According to the mobile satellite communications specialist, which offers communications services in the air, at sea, and on land, the satellite launch saw I-6 F2 lift off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, reaching a top speed of almost 40,000km/h as it left Earth above central Africa. The satellite will now spend several months traveling to its geostationary orbit, 36,000km above the Equator, using its onboard electric propulsion system.

Cadeler in Talks to Order Offshore Wind Foundation Installation Vessel

Danish wind turbine installation company Cadeler is contemplating a private placement of shares to raise funds to pay for a portion of a planned order for a newbuild offshore wind foundation installation vessel (F-Class) vessel.The company, which owns two offshore wind turbine installation vessels, with another two (X-class) on order, said Wednesday it planned to raise between $70 – 90 million through the placement of new ordinary shares with a par value of DKK 1.00 in the company at an offer price of NOK 32.32 per share, through an accelerated bookbuilding process.

Inmarsat Launches I-6 F1, Latest Tech Communication Satellite

Inmarsat's 3rd GX Satellite Launch Confirmed

Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, today confirmed that the third satellite in the transformational Global Xpress (GX) programme – Inmarsat-5 F3 (I-5 F3) – has been scheduled for launch at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 12.44pm (BST) on Friday 28th August. The third Global Xpress satellite to be launched, I-5 F3, will cover the Pacific Ocean Region and will, together with Inmarsat-5 F1 and Inmarsat-5 F2, create the world’s first globally available, high-speed mobile broadband service, delivered through a single provider. Inmarsat’s 5th generation satellites have all been built by Boeing Satellite Systems International Inc. in California.

Inmarsat 3rd Global Xpress Satellite's Launch Delayed

Inmarsat has provided an initial update on the launch schedule for Inmarsat-5 F3 (I-5 F3) following the failure of the preceding Proton Breeze M launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Saturday 16 May. According to an announcement by Inmarsat’s launch partner, ILS, the Proton Breeze M rocket carrying the Centenario satellite suffered a disabling anomaly during the operation of the third stage, approximately eight minutes after lift-off, resulting in the loss of the satellite and rocket. A Russian State Commission has begun the process of determining the reasons for the failure. In parallel with the State Commission, ILS will form its own Failure Review Oversight Board, which will review the State Commission’s final report and corrective action plan, in accord with U.S.

INTELLIAN FleetBroadband Xtra Solution Approved by Inmarsat

Inmarsat announced that the Global Xpress (GX) and FleetBroadband terminals manufactured by Intellian, are now approved for use with FleetBroadband Xtra. Designed to enable maritime customers to benefit from high-speed broadband connectivity, Fleet Xpress is an-integrated Ka-band and L-band solution that utilizes capacity from the first GX satellite in commercial service, 1-5 F1, and Inmarsat’s existing Inmarsat-4 fleet. A key Inmarsat terminal manufacturing partner, Intellian continues to support Inmarsat’s GX network services. The recently unveiled Intellian 65cm GX60 and 1m GX100 are both approved for use, along with Intellian’s FB250 and FB500 for FleetBroadband Xtra.

Inmarsat's Launch Date for Xpress Satellite

Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, will complete another significant milestone in the delivery of its transformational global mobile satellite communications (GX) service with the scheduled launch of Inmarsat-5 F2 (I-5 F2) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 12.31pm (GMT) on Sunday 1st February. Inmarsat is investing US$1.6bn in the delivery of Global Xpress, which will create the world’s first globally available, high-speed mobile broadband service, delivered through a single network operator. Inmarsat’s 5th generation satellites – which form the GX network – have all been built by Boeing Satellite Systems International Inc. (“Boeing”) in California.

Inmarsat Debuts Enhanced Maritime Product Roadmap

Inmarsat today announced its enhanced Maritime product roadmap consisting of two new services designed specifically for Inmarsat’s Global Xpress network: Fleet Xpress and FleetBroadband Xtra. Fleet Xpress is a hybrid solution, which will operate over the Global Xpress Ka-band network, and incorporate Inmarsat’s L-band FleetBroadband service as back-up, providing a truly global and advanced connectivity service for maritime customers anywhere in the world. The solution will be available when Global Xpress (GX) commences global commercial services early in the second half of 2015. Fleet Xpress will be an Inmarsat managed service sold through the company’s experienced GX Value Added Resellers (VARs).

BMT Achieves Strong Financial Results

New Technology to Debut at Europort

Europort 2001 — the 30th edition of the exhibition — scheduled for November 13 to 17 at the Amsterdam RAI, is traditionally an event where companies from around the globe debut innovative new marine equipment and technology. While the exhibition is often considered a regional affair, the event indeed fulfills its international billing with a roster of more than 550 companies from around the globe, and halls filled with ship owners and operators with an equal international distribution. In 1999 exhibition management stated that the event drew more than 30,000 visitors from 88 countries. This year's event will offer a few extras, including a special focus on inland shipping.

Fitch Comments On Carnival Corporation

Fitch Ratings has maintained the Rating Watch Negative status on Carnival Corporation's 'A' senior note rating and 'F1' commercial paper rating due to the uncertainty surrounding the potential merger of Carnival Corporation and P&O Princess Cruises, which is currently pending regulatory review. The outcome of the review process is likely to be determined around mid-summer. Operating fundamentals in the industry have rebounded more quickly than originally expected. Following the events of Sept. 11, net revenue yields were expected to decline approximately 15 percent during the first quarter of 2002 compared to the first quarter of 2001. However, CCL actually experienced a much less severe drop in net revenue yields, posting a decline of 7.5 percent.

Costa Serena Completes Sea Trials

The Costa Serena, the new Costa Crociere flagship, has come back to Fincantieri’s yard in Sestri Ponente (Genoa) at the end of her sea trials. The running tests on the ship’s systems, machinery and engines, which were performed during the first open sea navigation of the ship, were completed successfully. The delivery of the ship is scheduled for May 15, 2007. The new flagship will make her first official “public” appearance on May 19 with the christening event in Marseilles. Also planned is a Mediterranean tour of presentation involving more than 6000 travel agents from all over the world (from Europe to the Americas and the Far East). The tour will include calls in Savona (May 17), Marseilles (May 20), Palermo (May 22 & 23) and Venice (May 25).

Bibby Charters Offshore Support Vessel

Bibby Offshore Limited has entered into a long- term agreement to charter a new building 94 metre DSV/Construction Support vessel, built in Norway’s Aker Langsten Shipyard. The state of the art vessel, to be named Bibby Sapphire, is owned by Volstad Maritime AS. She will be available to the North Sea construction market from early August 2005, and her future deployment is currently being discussed with interested parties. Following the addition of a full 15 man Saturation Diving system, the vessel will also be available for diving work from the start of 2006. The DSV will be the first vessel of its kind to enter the North Sea region for some years and shows the commitment of this dynamic new player demonstrates Bibby Offshore’s commitment to this market.
