Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass LNG export facility returned to full production this week after undergoing maintenance, data from Refinitiv showed. The increased production is expected to help third quarter exports of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) which fell in May to 7.66 million tonnes from a record 8.01 million tonnes in April, as plant maintenance curbed some output. The Louisiana-based export facility started reducing its natural gas consumption on June 1 when it fell to 3.77 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) from 4.56 bcfd on May 31…

Regulators Green Light Freeport LNG to Return Ship Loading at Texas Plant

(Photo: Freeport LNG)

U.S. federal energy regulators on Thursday approved Freeport LNG's request to return ship loading to service at its long-idled Texas liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant.Freeport, the second biggest U.S. LNG export plant, shut after a fire in June 2022. The energy market expects gas prices to rise once the plant starts producing LNG again. When operating at full power, Freeport can turn about 2.1 billion cubic feet (bcf) of gas into LNG each day. That is about 2% of total U.S.

Freeport LNG’s long-shut liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant in Texas was on track to receive natural gas on Tuesday, according to data from Refinitiv, a possible sign the plant might meet the company’s projected end-of-the-year return date. The Freeport shutdown added to the squeeze on global gas caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It helped boost prices in Europe and Asia to record highs over the summer, while capping gains in U.S. gas futures by leaving more fuel in…

US LNG Exports on Track to Hit Record High in March

U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports are on track to hit record highs in March as tumbling shipping rates and lower prices than in Europe and Asia continue to attract buyers. The amount of gas flowing to U.S. LNG export plants has averaged 10.5 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) so far in March, according to Refinitiv. That compares with a four-month low of 8.5 bcfd in February, when extreme cold cut power and gas supplies to the facilities, and a monthly record high of 10.7 bcfd in December."The rebound in U.S.

LNG Carriers Going to Sabine Pass Despite Grounded Rig

Tankers were entering and leaving Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas export plant in Louisiana despite draft limitations in the Sabine-Neches Waterway after a rig ran aground in the channel over the weekend. The U.S. Coast Guard said a large semi-submersible rig, called the Jasminia, drifted into and ran aground in the Sabine Bank Channel, limiting vessels entering the waterway to those with a maximum draft of 36 feet (11 meters). The waterway sits on the Texas-Louisiana border and connects the Gulf of Mexico to Cheniere’s Sabine and oil refineries in Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas. That area is west of where two hurricanes—Laura and Delta—struck in recent weeks.

Grounded Offshore Rig Limits Sabine Pass Ship Traffic

The U.S. Coast Guard said on Monday that a large semi-submersible rig drifted into and ran aground in the Sabine Bank Channel, limiting vessels entering the Sabine-Neches Waterway to those with a maximum draft of 32 feet (9.8 meters). The waterway sits on the Texas-Louisiana border and connects the Gulf of Mexico to Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant and to oil refineries in Port Arthur and Beaumont, Texas. That area is west of where two hurricanes struck in recent weeks. Nearby refineries are owned by Exxon Mobil Corp, Valero Energy Corp, Total SA, and others. The semi-submersible rig, called the Jasminia, drifted into the Sabine Bank Channel and ran aground on Friday, a Coast Guard spokesman said. The rig had housed offshore workers in the past.

Feedgas supplies into Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant in Louisiana fell again after recovering briefly following a month-long maintenance shutdown affecting one of three production units, data showed on Tuesday.Input levels on the three pipelines serving the facility showed feed levels had fallen to 2,180 million cubic feet/day (mcf/day) on Tuesday after a fall and briefly recovering to a high of 2,860 mcf/day on Saturday.Current inflow levels suggest that the expected restart of the plant's third liquefaction train, or unit, had suffered a setback.Chenie

NLNG Bullish on Prospects

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas company (NLNG) has shipped 3,200 liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes by Q2 of 2015, since it began international gas exports in 1989, the managing director, Babs Omotowa said, reports Business Day. Omotowa, said, the gas company during the period under review (1989 to Q2 2015) has converted about 133 billion cubic metres (bcm) or 4.68 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of associated gas (AG) to exports as LNG and natural gas liquids (NGLs), thus helping to reduce gas flaring by upstream companies. NLNG has a total of 23 ships on long-term charter for its six-train operation. All 23 ships are utilised on an integrated scheduling basis and load at NLNG Terminal in Bonny…

Salvage of Capsized Rig to Finish by March 2015

Salvage work to remove a capsized rig lying in shallow waters offshore from Angola's new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant should be completed by March 2015, the company in charge of the operation said. The three-legged Perro Negro 6 drilling rig overturned last summer as it was being positioned to bore a tunnel for a gas pipeline key to feeding the $10 billion plant. Italian oil services firm Saipem chose South African company Smit Salvage, a unit of Netherlands-based dredging specialist Boskalis, to remove its rig.

Rig salvage work off Angola LNG to start in Q2

Salvage work to remove a capsized drilling rig lying in shallow waters off Angola's new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant is due to start in the second quarter, Italian oil services firm Saipem said. The capsize of Saipem's Perro Negro 6 occurred last summer during efforts to bore a tunnel below an underwater canyon for a gas pipeline that would feed the liquefaction facility. Saipem has awarded the salvage operation to an as-yet unidentified company, a spokesman said. "The activities will start in the second quarter following the customary authorisation from local authorities," the spokesman said. The disaster killed one person and cut off feedgas from Chevron-operated blocks 0 and 14, which were to be linked to the plant this year via the canyon tunnel.
